I Apologize For Unloading Like This...

Postby Dereck Arreguin on Thu Sep 02, 2010 2:36 pm

Guys n Gals...

I would really like to send out an apology to some of my responses in this community. I know that we are all here for the better part of this industry and to really "pay it forward" in giving to the community right?

Well it seems as if as of late (and I only say this because I've been here for just a short time), there have been tons of bashing on other marketers. (I know I've done some of it).So... I wanted to just ask the community...

When does it seem appropriate to correct someones mistakes?

Even Dillard says that a leader in the community should stand someone up when they make a mistake... but are people taking it too far?

I think we as a online / marketing / networking community need to come together and really decide what's appropriate and what's not. I'd love to be a part of some sort of collaboration with others who want to create something like Katie Freiling's manifesto.

My view is... if you proclaim to know something about a topic, then share it. But keep in mind that talk is talk and vary rarely does anyone walk it.

For instance, I don't go around proclaiming to know anything about SEO, even when I dabble in it. But that doesn't stop people from shouting from rooftops that they are the expert in the subject.

One thing I'm really grateful about here in BN is the contribution level. It helps others to know how active others have been in the community. I've discovered recently that it could be the double edged sword in this whole internet community.

What do you think?

PS. We should really promote what Ferny says in THIS POST.

I have been here on BN for almost 3 years and seen people come and go. But one thing I see tolerated here is Bashing You can not block people you have no control over their Bantering. Some even Slanderous.
I love a Debate but the Ones that come from Lack are not Debates. Which is to Bad they are just Rush to Judgement. And then I meet the most wonderful understanding People here.

So I Bite Frustration on the Face I keep going and keep Building Doing what ever it takes. But I do not copy Lack I mirror Abundance.

I have to admit, sometimes it feels like I'm in the room with clones of my wife when she's PMSing. Anything I say gets corrected with an attitude. I personally try not to sound like an expert, because I'm not. I like to add to a discussion if possible. I imagine it may be intimidating for new members sometimes, when you look at some of the back and forth "I'm right!", "no I'm right you idiot!" posts in forums. Who would want to add anythng with the possibility of being assaulted like a wack rapper at Death Row Records. (Suge Knight humor...90's rap fans will understand) Still, BN is the best place for great content and help.

It's a forum lol.... people are going to voice opinions, sometimes you gotta wade through the bs. I mean believe the cream rises to the top, but policing should be left to the mods. It's a better forum about this topic than a lot of others, but nevertheless its a forum.
Personally, i think the fact that your name real name is associated with your posts, does enough to stop people from damaging reps by posting completely false and offbase marketing info.

This is a good time than any.

You put a link in your comment - which leads to a capture page.

I'd advise to edit it out. Yes, I know it's to show something. Why not bang just name and let the people put effort in, and google.

There we go. Sorted. ;)

On the subject...

This is the Business Quadrant.

Which means, a person needs to have thick skin and not take things emotionally.

Or one can go and get a job and hide. One needs to be mentally and emotionally tough. That goes for forums too. It will get heated at times but hey, no problem. That's life.

Yes I completely agree that you got to have a thick skin in this kind of industry. One should not be affected with anything that they say. However, it is important to know that if you are wrong and admit it and learn from it. We cannot control what other people say or do, however we can only control our own actions and how we react to them.

I joined BN because I am a newbie to network marketing, and I am trying to learn everything I can so that I can shorten the learning curve. I have posted articles & blogs here, only to have others who have been in the "industry" longer than I have, post nasty comments. All I can say, is that they are the ones with the problem, not me. Hang in there, there are some really awesome people out there that are more than willing to help us newbies. Listen to what everyone tells you, but take it all with a grain of salt, and just ignore the mean, negative, criticizers. Just my .02! ;)

I was just reading an ebook that Jonathan Budd wrote and he addresses that topic head on.

I quote: "And truth be told… if you stand ONE shot in hell at truly building a walk away 6-7 figure business for yourself… then you need to get STRONG. You need to be able to take it when someone tells you how it is, and not curl up in a little ball & wish you were back in “mommy’s womb”.

It’s time to eradicate the “lazy” mentality from this industry. It’s time for us to commit to HARD, intelligent WORK. And it’s time for us to take TOTAL responsibility for our lives, businesses, and all the CHOICES we ourselves make."

Jonathan is just one of the guys who's "made it" and when he speaks I listen. The rest of the book is straight forward, blunt and meant to shake us (or most of us) out of this BS we believe is going to get us "there".

Great book.

Onwards to the 7 figure income,

I can't help it. I'm an emotional person. I cry my eyes out constantly when someone disagrees with me. Thank God for my 6 year old daughter. She is my rock. She is always there to reassure me that I am not as dumb as those meanies say i am.

Yes, totally agree mate.

Man, this is just forum, but if we look elsewhere, you're getting battered and most don't know it. Imagine, 95% going one way, and here's you, seen as a nutter, gone crackers, out of it because....

"Stuff inflation, recession! I'm gonna start my own business!"

Or, "No, I don't agree with what your saying.."

If you want to have your own voice, succeed, you got to get emotionally and mentally strong. See this forum then as a preparation for the winning...
