Is The Internet Era Over As We Now Know It?

Postby willie robertson on Tue Jan 10, 2012 11:10 am

Hi Gang,

Not sure about all this, but I have seen info about it going around.

So posting it FYI:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is at the forefront
of efforts to pass the Internet Censorship Act!
This act threatens the free internet as we know it.

The free speech implications of this kind of extra-judicial
government censorship of your free internet is chilling.

More details>>> http://act.credoaction.com/campaign/google_chamber/

Is the Internet Era as we know it, over? Or could it be?

There are serious implications if the Internet is sensored in this way. I don't think that it will stand, if it is looked at from the free speech side of the question, but you just never now what a goverment will do.

I truly hope that as a society we are given the choice of what WE want to view on the internet and not told what we are aloud to view.

Just my thoughts.

Ken

It would be terrible if it passed. I doubt it will, it is bad for free speech and business.

What do others think? How likely is it to pass?

FYI: A number of people are transferring their domains from GoDaddy, who supports this legislation, to domain registers like NameCheap, who is strongly advocating against it.
