Lead Generation Verses Conversions

Postby Oscar Carter on Wed Jan 05, 2011 10:03 pm

I know as network marketers we do not speak in terms of the two phrases above being mutually exclusive. We generally feel the more leads we have the better, and perhaps the best chance we will have for conversions for people to participate in our particular businesses.

In reviewing the numerous offers and proposals I run across everyday over the internet to generate leads, I am beginning to think lead generating systems which are mostly available at a cost are more about generating money from the systems themselves with a secondary or end goal of converting people to one’s primary business. I have to assume these systems work for many people since there are so many out there being sold. I personally have not found success with them. I have tried several systems and in most instances the leads I get are network marketers who are wedded to their particular company they are currently participating. Although many of them will say they are open to consider my opportunity, I find in most instances they are more interested in pitching their business. I really do not have a problem with that but I appreciate them more when they tell me up front they are focused on their current business and are not looking to change.

OK, so that leaves the question, how does one, perhaps best, go about obtaining people for their particular business opportunity? As we all know and are taught, recruiting, attracting or maybe even better said enabling people to join our opportunities rests with building and nurturing relationships. I guess that is the reason for so long in our industry network marketers were told to speak with their friends and family first. I am not necessarily promoting that but I am beginning to think that for everyone with whom we choose to speak about our business, whether they be family, friends or otherwise, we might first consider the value of the relationship for the other person as well as ourselves despite our business objectives.

This may sound a little esoteric, I am, however, interested in your thoughts.

Oscar you've hit the nail on the head. This business of network marketing is about building relationships. Even though someone may not join your primary business if they value the relationship they have with you enough they may point you in the direction of someone who they know personally and think would be interested in your business. I've gotten some referrals to my business that way.

Oscar....

Read the forum policies. Links need to be in the signature link. The forum is going to be tightened soon, and many will be banned for not taking time to first know the culture, of the community one is giving to, or participate in.

So, personally - we have to live by that which we teach.

Relationships is also about respecting someone's community and the community one is in. It is not the article, the fancy websites, the blogs that will make it.

One can write as many articles, create many posts on threads they want.

But leaders, we see who LIVES by what they say.

So please everyone, read the forum policies rules before posting. I do understand if someone is new. That's fine, but I just don't want people to miss the wealth they can attract, by simple mistakes as ones we see all over the forum.

Lead generation and conversions are the same. None of them will work until one understands what they are teaching themselves. The master will combine both to their advantage.

Thanks.

One tecknique that I had learned to "weed out" networkers who are solely looking to promote their business is to ask them up front, "are you laser focused on your business right now?".

I was in a system that targeted primarily networkers and as you said many are interested in promoting their primary business. Of course the "attraction marketing" model will suggest that you market a "generic" tool to them and in time you will recruit a certain percentage of them. I am an advocate though of marketing to people who have never been in network marketing. If you do a search, for example, for toastmaster (in your area) in face book their is a good chance you will find a "group" in your area. You can make friends with those people and in time perhaps recruit them into your company. A favorite mentor once said to me, "look at all the people out their who never were exposed to network marketing, why would you spend your time trying to recruit someone else rep?"

I think it would come down to the offer and the way it is presented.

There are many ways of marketing your business and without marketing it nothing happens right!

One thing I see an awful lot of out there is networkers and companies pitching how great and wonderful they are as a team and organisation but they never mention what they will do for me?

I.E if I am a young Dad struggling to keep the family afloat approaching me with a message that shows me how I could make the mortgage every month not from my job paycheck would certainly get my attebtion.

That sort of thing I think, how you do it online, classifieds, postcards etc is really up to the individual in terms of time and budget

Hi guys!!

I was under the assumption that VALUE and BENEFITS for the possible client were the main key to success in any business endeavor? Is that not the whole key point of proper copy writing and sales letters?
If I am in a business that cant offer the main ingredients, it will go no where! :)

Thanks,

At the end, there is only one answer - maybe you have to try all the lead generations systems out there - but if you hang in here in this "game" you will find that the only working for you, is where you act as you are. (and not trying to be someone else).

Well for me, its about creating that relationship however you generated that lead. Generating the lead is only the first step in a process. Some call it a funnel, others call it a funded proposal. The biggest thing that has to happen but often does not is that real human contact. Auto-responders in a system are valuable, but they alone will not convert someone to either your system or affiliate, or to you mlm company.

We still come back to that thing I say all the time. People join people not companies. You have to be willing to go offline with them - that means the phone or a face-to-face contact. They have to know that you are real and that you are going to help them solve wha ever problem that they had, that made them click on your link in the first place. Remember, its just as easy to unsubscribe and it is to subscribe. What holds them in your list, long enough to build that trust and create that conversion is human contact!!!
