I love Wordpress. I use it just about every day of my life. I like to make my installs simple so I set up new blogs with Fantastico and then upload a standard set of templates and plugins.
I'm pretty quick at setting everything up too. Activate this plugin, turn on that theme, update this sprocket and turn off that gizmo...
Well, I must have been too fast for my own good the other day.
The other day I installed a blog and noticed a guest author who posted something. Hmmm. I must have forgotten to update a setting and lock things down.
I deleted the author and his post and thought that was that.
Well, today I had six new authors and 10 posts!
Jesus, Mary and Joseph! I've been hacked!!!
(...and yet I thought it was strange that the posts were on-topic and not just Viagra spam.)
I took the site offline, downloaded a backup, installed three security specific plugins and was about to embark on a six hour delete, install, restore -- and Lord knows what else -- when I looked at my activated plugins and realized that I had turned on the "Unique Article Wizard" plugin which basically posts articles to the site without intervention.
My blood pressure dropped down from critical mass to normal in two heart beats.
Sigh.
Lesson learned.

Re: Panic in MY Blog-o-Sphere!
How funny. I most certainly appreciate the humor because we use UAW as well and have also run around in panic mode after forgetting we have coded the sites to receive automated content. Aw... the trials and tribulations of automatic marketing systems.
