Perry Marshall Arrogance
Today I have been watching the many post of replies to Perry Marshall and an e-mail reply to one of his statements. I found that, in my opinion, he arrogantly told a follower that his time was worth money and he would not give it away for free. Perry was finished at a speaking engagement, that people had paid for, and Some people ask him to lunch to pick his brain. His reply was a very arrogant statement in which he told them that his time was $750.00 an hour and said no to lunch. Now there were many ways to handle something like that and not be rude and disrespectful to people that had already paid to hear him speak. I have no problem with his charging for his time, infact I agree with that, but rudeness and arrogance is not the way to handle it. I have since removed myself from his list and was considering his $99.00 per month membership. Needless to say I have changed my mind and will not even consider anything he has to offer. His is a story of what happens when people let money rule them instead of you ruling the money. Maybe some disagree with me and that is fine, but I hope that someone will not be writing a statement like this about you in the future. Most of us know there is no free ride , but will not tolerate disrespect or rudeness.

Hey Bob,
Perry Marshall's response seemed pretty classy to me.
Sometimes you can say something in love -- but "season" it with salt (so to speak).
That's how I read it, at least.
What part(s) did you find arrogant, rude and/or disrespectful, exactly?

I'd have to be there to know the tone and so forth; however, here's what I do know.
Perry Marshall typically is teaching on topics of 'money' and business growth.
If he felt that he was in the company of a poverty mindset, he may have been making a teaching point here.
The poverty mindset is the #1 killer of dreams. And those with a success mindset will typically not be bashful about their opinion of it.
Just a possibility. That would be my guess.

I don't know Perry Marshall. It is hard to judge the motives of a person from afar. he may of had a bad night, Stuff just happens and we are not always friendly. I am sure if this was his ingoing attitude he could not draw the people to him that you describe.

It's all a matter of perspective. I personally don't fault his response.
My take is if Perry's materials are helpful in your business keep reading them.
I've never stopped reading any of my textbooks in college because the author was a jerk.

I think Perry went about it all wrong.
I would have been like, "Buy me a double of Don Julio 1942 and you got me for as long as it takes me to finish the drink. If you want to keep talking, keep buying..."
Now that's a business model!

Wasn't going to respond in this forum until I read what you wrote Ferny. Excellent point.
It's a fine balance. A fine line.
I opened up an account for myself on Etsy last night, and although I don't have any of my artwork up for sale yet, I did upload a picture and write my bio. What I would like to share with you is an essential part of my business model that I included to viewers of my biography:
"If at any time you see a piece of art that touches you, makes you feel sentimental or lights up your synapses, but you can't afford the price I have chosen, please let me know and I will change the price to fit your financial needs. I'm selling my artwork to make extra money now that I'll be home (in referrance to staying at home after the birth of my daughter) and otherwise not contributing financially. But I don't want money to get in the way of you being able to hang my art on your walls."
I want people to take in and enjoy what I have to offer. And I would like to offer my gift to as many people as possible. Of course, I'm not going to give anything away for absolutely free, but considering that I am not in need of money, I will work the sliding scale method.
I don't like the idea of denying anyone who is coming to me in want or need. If I can help, in any way, I will.
That's the spirit that I read behind your post Ferny. You're a nice guy.
