Those are some astonishing facts! Should be given to every college student.... heck, it should be given to every high school student!

Glad to be a part of this awesome industry and having a financial plan in place that won't disappoint me when I'm 65! : )

These are all painful facts of life which you will definitely suffer if you don't have a concrete plan in the future. Whatever business you are into these days should have a clearly laid out plan for the senior years.

Remember when you first heard, "Sales is a numbers game." Somebody said that to you because you had called 25 people with absolutely no success. What they meant was, "Keep on swinging. Eventually you'll hit one." Unfortunately, they did not have your best interest in mind. They wanted to keep you around a few more weeks before you gave up and they had to train another unknowing suspect.

With this thinking, if you want to make one sale, you've got to make 100 calls. Two sales, 200 calls. The problem with that is if you want to make 10 sales, you've got to make 1000 calls. Who has time to make that many calls? Can you see how this approach can limit you?

I believe in working smarter, not harder. Instead of grunt work, which is what cold prospecting is, wouldn't you rather spend your time talking with qualified prospects that need you and want you to call them?

Why on earth would you willingly spend your time searching under rocks for those people, and then begging them for a few minutes on the phone?

Would you rather be able to follow up with a prospect who has already contacted you and get most of them to spend time with you on the phone?

If you are tired of playing the numbers game and are ready to travel a road less traveled, then the Color To Success Training CD will show you the path.

Those are some sobering numbers right there.

May I add some figures from the direct sales industry?

According to 2006 figures from the Direct Selling Association, there were about 15 million people in direct sales in the U.S.

Most companies pay out between 5%-10% of sales as "commissions". So I took 7-and-a-half percent of the total revenue and divided it by the number of direct sellers. Here's what I found:

* In 2006, half of all direct sellers made $3,000 or less for the entire year's effort.

*10%-15% of direct sellers made 85%-90% of the money.

* The majority of all the people in the industry quit because they didn't make enough money.

CONCLUSION: If you're not in the top 10%-15% of the industry, you can realistically expect to fail, no matter what.

SO, QUESTION FOR THE GROUP:

What do you think must be done for you to be in the top 10%-15%?

Interested to see your responses...
