Hello Debbie,

I know what you mean, it is funny and sad. I, like you, have my number out there on the internet too. I agree with you how can you help someone in network marketing if they can't get in contact with you. The ones that really need the help are the ones calling our homes with a automated message. But, you can't talk to a computer.

I do wish we could though, talk to them, If I were mentoring them I would tell them this is first thing that has to go. You must be brave enough to call and talk to someone live on the phone. It is the start to building a relationship. You and I know this is so important, but, the ones doing this kind of cold calling, sadly don't.

Thank you Debbie,please take care.

Yes....I have also had an influx of these calls. I hang up instantly also, so have no idea what company they come from or what they have to say

You can get a number from Google voice, good way to screen calls

I have been getting calls pitching me the opportunity to use the same system that this guy used to call me, funny thing is he states that I must act now because this would be the only time he offered it. I get his call about once a week.

I believe you are absolutely INSANE to leave your mobile phone number online!!

It is only a matter of time until it gets harvested..

My solution: I purchased a 'Skype In' number which is a real phone number that connects to my skype account.. It costs me about $60 for the year or $18 for 3 months... Well worth it to ensure my privacy.

This is the ONLY number I will post online... Once I have a person requesting information from me directly or once someone has entered one of my sales funnels then and ONLY then will i give out my personal number to further build the relationship.

The secret is not letting your number get harvested.. I suppose you could post your 'Real Number' in an image file... That way it can not be read or harvested but why not invest to ensure only the people you give your number too have it.

There are other online options like Google Voice you can look into but for me Skype works perfectly!

Make sense..?

Cheers

Wow, this is quite scary, for the fact that , just today i gave out my phone number just to see if I would get a message ( i live in Nigeria) , and I did, now i am not ready for floods of calls coming in, that would be a real turn-off for me. I have learnt not to do that again. The good part is ;the World has become a Global Village, you can indeed sell anything from anywhere.

Is this a new way of getting leads? Within the last 2 months I get about three calls a week from an automated service pitching me on a home-based business opportunity.

You have to be kidding... right?

I wonder how much this kind of service costs the net-worker? Sad! Do people really buy into a generic voice?
I would love to get some feed back on this topic. What do you think?

Hi Debby,

These services scrape your number off of your website, most likely your MLM companies replicated website.

The smarter ones categorize them by company, so that they can customize their message.

At any rate, they are highly annoying.

A lot of them come from the 206 area code, because that's where one of the companies is located that sells this type of service. Now they are using 800 numbers too.

While their recorded message is playing, hit the 9 key (for some of them it's the 8 key) and you will hear a message that you will be removed from their call list.

The only challenge is that you're not removed from the master list, just that particular marketers list.

Hope that helps! David
