To Tea, or Not To Tea, That is The Question!
Whew! Glad Tax Time is over! Is it me, or does it seem that America has gone crazy? I mean, I don't have a problem with animated discussion and a good ole fashioned debate is welcomed any day. But the toxic atmosphere that has enveloped this country is mind boggling. My goodness, you used to be able to disagree with someone and still have a beer with them during the verbal gymnastics. Now, we just want to use nasty words and hateful rhetoric to get our points across. I am not picking on the Tea Party, just making an observation. I actually think the Tea Party has a place in our society. Dissent has always been welcomed in America. I think it is necessary. It keeps us on our toes. But we have to be intelligent in our opposition. We can't lose focus of our original idea. The Tea Party started out as disenfranchised grassroots citizens who wanted to rein in government and control taxes. No problem with me. This makes sense. But something happened along the way. Now it seems like people are just climbing aboard for something to do. It's been hijacked by opportunists who want to use the Tea Party for their own agenda. Hopefully the original founders will clean house before it's too late. We can only hope so!

I am Canadian, so what do I know
I too like opposing viewpoints, but only when they are intelligent.
Maybe it is the media only exposing idiots who do not even know why they joined a movement that causes me doubts about those movements.
There certainly were enough reasons during Bush's years for the Tea Party to emerge, so why now?
