Weekend musings on spellings

Postby Sandeep Nath on Sat Feb 27, 2010 9:11 am

This week I've been playing around with spelling mistakes. I'm figuring out how they work... certainly they rank my posts on top :-)

Search "internet marketing tols" and chances are you'll see this http://www.doonlinebusiness.info/2010/0 ... -must-own/

With 550,000 searches for the right spelling, I'm not sure whether google really has a track of people who get the spelling wrong. Time will tell.

I was pleasantly surprised to start http://createweath.com as well for $10. www.creatingwealth.com costs $4000+ Now how bad can this be?

Anyone with thoughts / experience on this subject please write in. Love to exchange!

Make it a great weekend, Sandeep

I was surprised how many hits I received from a misspelled word url I purchased very cheaply. Http://incomeformhome.com gave me incredible amount of hits- I have it offline right now getting ready for another test run.

Yeah, I have seen where misspellings in the search bar can certainly help with unique keywords.

Although, lately (take Google for example) they immediate start to show as you're typing possible results, so you don't even have to finish typing.

HA! Just noticed Dean had already mentioned this. Great minds think alike.

I still use this technique, although not as much. For those that I still do, they have certainly brought in their share of traffic.

It's a good technique to play around with.

But do you really want someone who is illiterate on your team? :?

KIDDING!

I say it's worth a shot.
The whole thing about keywords is to test.
But I guess that's true of anything. 8-)

One thing to keep in mind about the "Google Suggest" tool...

Not everyone is typing their search actually into the Google
home page. For instance, Firefox and many other popular
browsers have it built in. There are also many .....how would
you classify it... "sub-prime" search engines which pull from
Google's feed but maybe don't have all the features.

I say if people are typing in simple mistake mis-spellings like
what Bill mentioned, there's a market for it. Especially with
that example (incomeformhome.com), I had to look two or
three times just to find the error.

Ya know, because of my dysxleyia.

Hi Dean.

Hi Guys
I just read all your posts and thought about the texting angle using "text" condensed words like becomes lke. In New Zealand every second person, expect me, texts on their cellphone. I even recieved a CV once all in text language. I had to get someone else to read it to me!
