Here are some that I really enjoy.

"Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values." - Dali Lama

"A single candle may be used to light thousands more without its own flame diminishing." - Buddha

Real compassion is based on reason. Ordinary compassion or love is limited by desire or attachment.

Money can buy you a house but not a home, money can buy you a watch but not time, money can buy you sex but not love-- MSG

"Humans are not for money, money is for humans."

"We have bigger houses but smaller families: We have more degrees but less sense; more knowledge but less judgements; more experts but more problems; more medicines, but less healthiness. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but we have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we have less communication. We have become long on quantity but short on quality. These are times of fast foods, but slow digestion; tall man, but short character; steep profits, but shallow relationships. It is time when there is much in the window but nothing in the room." - Dalai Lama

Our major obligation is not to mistake slogans for solutions.~

My favorite quote is,

"Charity is not a formula, it is an atmosphere. To cultivate charity in judging, we must learn to search out the good in others, rather than atttempt to discover the hidden evils. The eye of charity requires that we see the undeveloped butterfly in the caterpillar. Let us, then, make for our watchword the phrase of supreme charity: "Judge not."" by Micheal George Jordan in The Kingship of Self-Control.

How many hidden leaders would arise if a nation lived by this principle?

Liz,

I have 2 quotes for you. One I used successfully to lose 50 pounds after I had my second son, and again a few years ago to drop the 35 pounds I gained after having major surgery.

"There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you are interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you are committed to something, you accept no excuses, ONLY RESULTS." Anonymous

The other one I came across last week. "When you hear something-you forget it. When your see something-you remember it. When you do something-you understand it." Josh McDowell
