Blog tracking and linking to pdf questions

Postby Abraham Schexnayder on Tue Feb 22, 2011 1:03 pm

Hi all. I was hoping you could help me with two specific problems whose answers have been escaping me. I have searched both here and Google to find the answer, but can't. If anyone knows of a guide for either question or could provide one, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm hoping for a step-by-step guide, as I'm not too tech-savvy.

First question:
I have a wordpress blog hosted by Hostgator. I have a link to a capture page on the main (static) page. I would like to track the "conversion" rate (how many visit the page vs. how many click on the link to the capture page). How do I set that up?

Second question:
I have created a pdf guide that I would like to offer my (AWeber) list. However I don't want to send it as an attachment. How do I create a text hyperlink that will open a pdf file?

Thanks in advance,
Abe

For your second question...

You will want to open up your FTP
and log in to your website.

Select the domain folder you want it under.

Then drop that pdf file into there.

Now you should be able to access it
by going to the URL

YourDomain.com/Document.pdf :D

Let me know if you need further explanation

Hello Abraham,
I believe that the hosted versions of Wordpress have an integrated stats system...have you looked at the documentation for the Wordpress system to see if the stats system is configurable and will allow you to track the links you desire. Try browsing this site for more info: http://wordpress.com/

If you have access to your hosting account and can upload files then you can follow Nathan's advice and upload the pdf to your server and then you can redirect visitors to the url of the pdf after they have submitted the form.

Let me know if you need more help. Kerry
