Hey Theodore,
I have a ton of critiques to share with you. I don't think I can clearly fit my entire message into a forum post, so PM me if you'd like to set up a private 1 on 1 coaching call.

awebber is a great tool to use for email lists and you can build opt in boxes with it as well. Check out Myexpressite as well, does all your hosting, allows you to purchase domains, can build landing pages and it's got tutorials on there as well.

Hi Theodore,

The best option in my opinion is get yourself a wordpress blog and a theme that allows you to create squeeze pages with just a few clicks of the mouse. Try optimize press, it is the best theme i have seen. Another option is Kajabi.

Check out the blog for a list of recommended tools.

ACK!

Theodore,

Check out my blueprint. I actually give you step by step instructions on how to install a replicata of one of my best capture pages. You'll be able to customize your own text, images, video, disclosures and even insert your autoresponder service.

All I ask is that you leave me a comment on the download page. The link to the page is in my signature box.

The key behind a capture page is to capture the information, not divert the reader to another location. This is why having a blog capture page is not recommended by this marketer.

See ya on the other side! :D

Theodore,

I create full wordpress bogs for clients on their own hosting account and usually use Aweber to gather email addresses and build a list. It has a monthly cost however.

If you want a more economical tool Mailchimp is free up to 500 subscribers. It has a built in tool for making your forms just like aweber does.

Since I am a marketer and have been for a long time I have a few simple abservation for you.

first,
do not call that widget Capture it is not the way to inspire people to click into it.

Second,
you should offer them something to get them to subscribe so you need an incentive of some sort. That is how it is most often done effectively.

Third,
If you have a well written post with a strong incentive that draws the persons attention you should put the form right inside that post not in the right column.

I hope these observations are of some help to you.

Hi Theodore,

Your site looks clean. I guess you are asking because your opt in form doesn't stand out. I use AWeber too. There are just a variety of pre-made opt-in forms in many styles and colors. Not free, but not horribly expensive and you get to automate your email response or "free gift" downloads in their system. There is a good set of tools with AWeber - and I am satisfied with the result.

Just three questions,

1. Do sites like Aweber and icontact provide any hosting facilities?
2. Is it nessecery to put a capture page on to a site using use a Domian address ?
3. Could I use a blogger site (or something similair) to host an optin page?

thats it, thanks regards jim T.

Hey Jim,
You need to go to godaddy to get a domain and use hostgator to host your LCP.
I know it sounds like a lot, but in my experience, it only takes about a half an hour to get a lead capture page up and running.
(By the way, instead of using aweber, godaddy, and hostgator, you could alternatively just use GVO for a flat rate and get hosting, and and autoresponder all in one... just click my signature link and opt in to get my affiliate link for GVO).

Jim,

To your first question,

NO aweber and icontact do not provide hosting. What they provide is forms and the database functions to store and build a mailing list as well as send emails and automatic messages for keep in touch with your list.

Second Question,

If you are going to have a blog at all why not register a domain name and use it to point to the blog. Blogger allows use of a domain name and so does Wordpress. It gives you a more professional presentation and costs about $10 a year.

Third question,

I think it is possible to put a signup form on Blogger pages and posts but it has been a while since I worked in that system.

It is definitely possible to put a form into a post or wigdet on Wordpress.com. Wordpress.com is like blogger but not owned by Google and it has most of the same functions as a full Wordpress system hosted on your own hosting account.

Have you asked the most important questions first though.
What do you want this blog to do?
What keywords are right for that purpose.
What is it going to be an affiliate refferal site, information site or sell it's own products?

Hope this helps.
