Face book Fanpage posts

Postby judia andrew on Mon Feb 28, 2011 6:21 pm

Hi Guys

I am creating a fanpage and need some tips from you. If I make comments or posts in my face book and in my group I always get a notification in my face book account. If I create post, discussion in my face book fanpage, will the people likes my fanpage will be notified of the updates?

Can I also do an RSS feed from my blog to this fanpage? Also where can we locate the pages we like in the face book account. all the groups I join are visible in the 'home' page but the pages I like aren't visible

Thanks for your expertise

Hey Julie,
I'm having trouble understanding your questions.
When you update the status of your page, the fans will see that post on their status feed.
I don't know how to create an RSS feed... i'm sure there's a way.
To find the pages that you are a fan of, go to the "Info" page of your profile.

Judia,

Your question is not clear. But I think you're asking "If a person likes your fanpage and you make changes will the person receive notification"?

In facebook when a person joins a group or fanpage under the person's messages its a section called updates. When a changes occurs notification is sent indicating an update was done on the page. Its not as visible as a a new message because you have to first select the message option before you see updates. To see this, join another fanpage that has lots of activiting from the moderator and you'll see if for yourself.

You can automatically post from your blog to your fan page.

There is a facebook app for that. You can look it up. I think there are a couple. "Social RSS" is one and "Networked Blogs" is another.

However I do not encourage you to automatically post to your fan page. That's a good way to lose fans. I read a report that says the most liked fan pages only post every other day. The pages where they post updates several times a day are some of the least liked fan pages.

What I do is occasionally, I post to my fan page. I do it manually. I do not do it automatically. I also try and make sure I'm going to be online for an hour or so after I post to my fan page in case people have questions or comment on my post.

Hi Benjamin

thanks for the tip. But that is no probs, I do like to post on my fanpage manually. I do use RSS Graffiti in facebook to post from my blog to the fanpage.

But the main concern is getting notification when you join a fanpage. As I mentioned above, I have joined fanpages and I can see activities and updates when I physically go to the fanpage. I am not receiving any notification reg the updates. But when updates happen in group pages I get notification

Thanks

Hi Julia,

I've been doing some research into it...

Fan Pages don't show up as much in your news feed. Groups seem to post more information and updates to your news feed.

I assume with a fan page it is going to be just like when you have too many people you are "friends" with. If you're not seeing all their posts scroll down to the bottom of your Facebook page where it says "show older posts". To the right of that it should say "edit options" or something similar.

Under there you can find an option for "Show Posts From"

By default we're usually set to "friends and pages you interact with most".

You can change it to "all your friends and pages". (Note the "and pages" part.)

Maybe that will help?
