Can someone help me please? I have said in other posts that I am technologically challenged so things take me a little longer, but if someone shows me how to do something I can do it. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to submit my site map to the search engines. I downloaded the plug in. I created the sitemap. The instructions are very confusing. It says from the main search engine page I am supposed to log in and then click on a link to add a site.
Now, I know how to log into my google account. I go to the homepage. Nowhere on that page can I find a link that allows me to add a site. I did a google search to find out how to submit to google and it says I need to do it through google webmaster tools, so I went there. Then it told me I had to verify my site first. It says I have to take the code and upload it to my site. How the heck do I do that? Where do I do that? Am I supposed to do it in the cpanel? I tried doing it from the dashboard and I put a text widget in the footer and tried adding it that way, when I clicked to verify, it said page cannot be found.
I have absolutely no idea where to put that code. I then tried to do the alternate method, where I could get some HTML code and put that in my home page between the header and the body, but again, where the heck do I do that? how do I get there? I tried from my dashboard and I can't seem to be able to figure it out.
I just need someone to tell me how and where I'm supposed to put the code. I thank you in advance for your time and attention to this matter.

Re: Help! How do I submit XML Map To Search Engines?
hi Josclyn,
The internet can be a daunting place at first.
Once you do these steps a few times it is hard to remember how intimidating it was at first.
Yes you need to put that code on your site via your cpanel. download it from Google Webmaster and then upload it to your site.
However, what I recommend for you, assuming your site is on wordpress.org, that you get the Yoast Wordpress SEO plug in. Just search for it from you plug-in menu on your site.
This plug in holds your hand for on-page SEO.
It also add of the verification code for Google Webmaster tools, Yahoo! Site Explorer, and Bing for you.
Don't be scared of all the setting options in this plug in.
Go to http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/
for a tutorial of how best to set it up.
The internet can be baffling.
Whenever I am baffled, I Google my question. Someone has posted the solution 98% of the time.
Good luck.

Re: Help! How do I submit XML Map To Search Engines?
Hi Betsy, thanks for getting back to me. I already have platinum SEO pack plug in installed on my blog, will the plug in you just mentioned be compatible with it? A friend of mine has told me to use Platinum SEO so that's what I use, but I wasn't sure if I had a sitemap and so I made one and don't know if platinum seo did that, so just thought I would check.

Platinum SEO is a good plug in. It is just that I strongly believe that Wordpress SEO is better, esp for the novice.
You should only use one SEO plug in.
I believe that Wordpress SEO has a section where you can import your Platinum SEO setting.
Oh yes, Wordpress SEO also creates your sitemap.
I don't think Platinum SEO does that. Most likely you use an google html sitemap generator plug-in to do the job.
IF you go with the Wordpress SEO make sure you delete your sitemap generator plug in as well.
The fewer plugins you have the better.
Did you know that you should have a ping regulator on your site as well? It is never good ping all your services as you edit each new post.
If you don't have one already, I recommend cbnet Ping Optimizer.
Make sure to update your ping service list as well.
