How dense are you?

Postby Bobby Brown on Thu Feb 11, 2010 6:18 pm

Can anyone tell me how to check the keyword density of an article while it's still on my computer?

I know there are ways to check once the article is posted, that's not what I'm looking for. Is there a simple program that I can plug my article into and check the density of the keywords?

Hey! Emphasis on "simple" - I'm too dense for this kind of shiz! And I don't need a tool to tell me that (by "tool" I mean "jerk")

Puns galore!

Keyword density is pretty much irrelevant.
Use the meta-tags and title.
Then just write some good content the way you naturally speak.
There's no magic number and the quality of your content will
trump the number of times you use your keyword every day.

Hi Bobby, it's easy if you make sure your main keyword is in the title of your article (as close to the beginning of the title as possible), and put your main keyword in the first sentence of the article.

Also use the main keyword on your anchor text when linking to whatever URL you are linking to.

Hi Bobby,
This is the plugin I use for FireFox.
http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/

Install it, then all you have to do from any page in your browser is select the keyword you want to check, right click and select "Show Keyword Density..."

It will return the following data in a popup window:

title, body, h1/h2/h3, links, bold, meta description, meta keywords
how many matches there are, total words and the %.

cheers!

SEOQuake is a great plug-in for Firefox.
Traffic Travis, desktop SEO-Keyword App.-- is free if you want to analyze a site.

Sorry, just noticed you wanted a desktop app.

I'm gonna try what the expert before me said. :P
I just use 3-5 times in a 500 word article -- for my main keyword -- plus 4-5 synonyms, or related.
