My Website has been kidnapped! Sitenapped?

Postby Andrea Thornton on Wed Sep 14, 2011 3:39 pm

Hi,

My name is Andrea, and one of my websites DISAPPEARED! It won't load in any browser I have tried. What happened????? I was trying to fix a link on it in AWebber because I somehow redirected it to the wrong place, and when I hit update...nothing. website gone. Now when I try to look it up, it only shows as a blank white screen.

I am very new to all this computer stuff, so what might take you all 30 minutes to create took me weeks..and now it is GONE! What did I do wrong? How can I fix it? I am reaching full meltdown here!

Please help if you can,

Thanks

Andrea

Hi Jim,

The name of the site is www.howitis.ws hosted by GDI. I sent a support request, but so far no reply. I have other websites, but this one is really cool. Plus I paid for the hosting for a year already and where did it GO?? that's what I don't understand. I didn't tell it to go anywhere, that I know of so where IS it? can you kill your website in awebber by accident?? is that possible?

Hi Andrea I wish that I could say that I could help but I am afraid that I cannot. There might just be a wrong connection between your domain site and the interent? I have tried loggimg into it but I cannot get a connection either. I should imagine that your site is still intact and that it just has a bad connection...but then what do I know?

I guess that is one of the drawbacks with working with a smaller provider, were you with Godaddy you could have just phoned them up (sorry I know that dosent help at all).

As regards aweber well I am pretty sure that they cannot access your site either plus of course they also shut down every night as well, but I don't think for a moment that it would be there fault.

Can't you phone GDI up and ask them too look into it? ....Sorry I can't be more helpful, I am sure that it will get sorted out, it's just very frustrating for you at the moment, do you know any other GDI members who may have experiened a similair problem? anyway good luck regards Jim T.

Andrea.Hi!

Did you pay to have the right to own "howisit.ws" ?

Your site is in the limbo...

As far as I know even the people in the Global Domain Business needs to pay for the domain.

Maybe I am wrong...that kind of mistakes remind me that I am still  human.

Be well,

Thanks, Jim

I am going to soak in the tub and meditate for a while, and make calls tomorrow, when I will hopefully be less likely singe the ears of who ever answers the phone.

Roger,

The domain hosting is paid for a year. I am not sure what happened - my other sites are working fine.

Hi Andrea I am really pleased that it came back for you, I guess that there is a lesson there for us all... when people start in this kind of business there are just so many hurdles to jump......

Learning Wordpress and Aweber, learning about our product and how to market it, learning what to do when things go wrong and things will go wrong, having the fortitude to do what you just done and say "well this is just a problem day but I will try again tomorrow", that takes courage....plus of course there are a thousand other problems that keep popping up that we never expect.....

Anyway that particular problem is history now so just sit back and enjoy the moment (and wait for the next one?) well done Andrea, regards Jim T. :D
