Hello,
I just started making videos using my laptop, HP Pavilion. Some times when I make one and Download it on you tube it comes out fine. Other times, even when I preview it, it is fine, but then after I download it on you tube , my voice and mouth are out of sync any suggestions why this is happening?
Thanks,
Stevek

How much RAM do you have in your laptop?
To find out click on ...
Start > mouse over MyComputer > right click and select Properties
A splash screen will come up with the Windows logo.
On this screen you will see which version of Windows you are running.
Under that it should show you how much RAM or memory you have.
Odds are you have between 1-2GB (gigaBytes) - if that's the case I recommend upgrading to 4GB. (2GB x 2 chip sets) NewEgg.com is my all time favorite place to get good deals on RAM and other tech stuff. Shop around but they usually have the best deals.
Next, how many applications do you have running while you make your videos?
If you have too many things running, especially if you have a low amount of RAM or your hard drive is pretty full, you may get poor quality videos.
Video rendering is taxing on your system resources. Best practice is to close everything that does not have to be running while you produce your videos.
Something else to look at is your video graphics card.
Unless you bought an upgraded "video editing" or "professional" level machine, odds are you have an integrated graphics card. Meaning ... the graphics are incorporated into the machines mother board and share resources, again such as RAM, with all the other components in the computer. A dedicated graphics card is best. But in most laptops you can't upgrade.
So if it is integrated, then you'll want to focus on keeping your machine cool. Ever notice the bottom of your laptop gets really hot? That's the hard drive and graphics card. Combined they kick out a lot of heat. Too much heat will start to affect the machines performance. If you can, elevate it on a perforated stand of some sort to allow air to circulate under the machine. There are also fans you can buy that help with this process.
One more thing to look at is your system tray ... that's all those icons in the bottom right corner of the screen next to the clock. Every icon represents a program running in the background; most of which again tax the hell out of your machine's resources. Right click and exit any that you simply don't need while you're editing.
Last but not least, empty your cache. In Internet Explorer or what ever browser you use, under Tools > Internet Settings, you'll find an area (off the top of my head I can't remember exactly what it's called) but it will give you the option to Delete Browsing History, do that and include all offline files.
This is another huge area of wasted space on your hard drive that gets filled up while you surf the web. And also one of the main reasons people's machines run so badly after awhile ... but most people don't know about it.
OK, that's a lot. Try all that. If you still have problems, post again with more details and we can look at it again.
Hope that helps.

Re: Please Help! New Making Videos
I had this problem many times with my high end computer - mega mega RAM, dual core CPU processor.
For me it was the quality of the video I saving it as.
For Windows Media you have the option to set the quality. There is a recommended setting and then there's a lower quality setting. I always have to choose the lower quality setting.
Irregardless of the quality, when I view it on my computer there is no problem. It's usually a problem when uploading.
For this reason I choose the lower quality setting (like below).

Re: Please Help! New Making Videos
AHHH welcome to the frustrating world of YouTube's quick capture and general uploading system.
This happens to everyone regardless of the operating system you use, the programs you use, or whether you're doing a quick upload or uploading a video you made with a program.
YouTube seriously needs to fix this as it is soooo annoying since it only goes out of synce after you've done all your editing and waited for it to upload and process.
It's hair pulling annoying!

Yeah, any attempt I've ever made at using one of the quick capture features, even on other sites besides YouTube has been a miserable experience. Part of the issue is you;re relying in the throughput of your ISP, which is infamous for being inconsistent at best. Data is typically sent in bursts, which is why you'll see webinars that seem to stall periodically.
Best practice is create the video directly on your machine, encode it, then upload the file.

I use a $299 Acer Eee PC and don't have any problems. You don't need a heavy, hi-tech machine.
The key is to create it on your machine. Don't try to use any online capture because that opens up a myriad of problems. Some of which you have no control over.
I just open Windows Movie maker and click on capture video.
