Video Marketing What is the best recorder?
What is the best video recorder to use in order to do videos. I have a web cam that works great, but I want to do some videos in other places. Someone mentioned a flip ultra to me.

I think the flip is great. I want one myself
Some of the digital cameras also have a camera, my wife's Canon Elph has a nice video camera on it. Even the new Nano iPod has a video camera on it.
One great way to see some examples is go to Youtube and type in the name of the camera and you will see some video shot on it.

Hey Carlton,
I've personally used the FLIP Ultra HD video recorder and it's been working great. One thing I did notice with the FLIP is that it takes awesome outdoor videos but any video you record indoor requires good lighting.
If you want some pretty cool, and FREE, tips on video marketing, check out Hani Mourra's site at http://www.easyonlinevideotips.com/ .
Hani has personally given me some awesome tips on creating and editing your videos.
Hope that helps.

I have a couple of Canon HV20s. These are SICK!
Full HD almost cinema quality video. But a little overkill for basic web video.
But if you wanted to do super high quality video for an info product or something they're awesome.
Downside is they are tape based so transfer time kinda sucks. Upside to film is it won't freeze up or skip like a hard drive in cold weather, which is why I got them in the first place ... snowboard movies.
I've been looking at the Kodak zi8 and the Kodak EasyShare M381 12mp.
Surprisingly the ezshare takes some pretty darn good video, and killer photos.
I have a Canon EOS for photography.
For portability reasons I've been looking for more compact options.
I think I'm going to go with the zi8 for hd video and the ezshare for hd photos.
Both travel very well and compact in a daypack, which I usually carry when I'm out and about.
What I really like about the zi8 is the external mic jack.
The Flip's internal mic sucks, as do most cameras with internal mics.
For audio I'm using the Audio Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone with a 3.5mm stereo adapter. (works on the HV20s AND the zi8) This mic has a 20 foot cable so I can place the camera just about anywhere and get awesome sound every time. The next upgrade will be a wireless lavalier setup.
I'm a stickler for quality so I'd rather have 2 cameras, one for photos, one for video and have the external mic for killer audio than "settle" for "it'll do quality.
But that's just me.

Hi Carlton,
Great timing on your question as this is the one I just bought and love.
The Kodak's new Zi8 HD Camera for under $200.00
Here is a cool review on the product as well:

Here's a YouTube review I made of the Zi8 Mike Koenigs gave me at a marketing event I went to last November:
http://www.youtube.com/user/dezfutak#p/u/10/TpCMaaVwXkg
Also, I've taken a large number of stills with the Zi8 - it's 5Mpixel still camera is very adequate for web use..plus it seems to have a very good signal/noise ratio in low light conditions (unlike a lot of cameras which seem to degrade rapidly).
Here's another YouTube video I've made which shows a collage of images taken with the camera:
http://www.youtube.com/user/dezfutak#p/u/9/wIJnEqoTxcQ
Like others, I have an external stereo microphone I carry around with me, which gives me professional level sound...as Mike says, a pretty good feature. The second video is with the internal microphone of the Zi8, which I reckon is pretty good quality.
I've posted a more in-depth review of the Zi8 here:
http://nowskip.to/video
I absolutely love this device, and have used it in some of the video production work I do for offline businesses to good effect - example here:

If you have any questions, don't hesistate to PM or flip me an email to zedkatuf@gmail.com ..it may take me a few days to reply, though, as I practice "email scarcity"
Cheers,
Dez.

Hey Carlton,
Great question! The camera is the one you use the most
If you have a digital photo camera with movie mode, use that. A lot of the newer digital cameras have HD video now.
If you want something portable and easy upload to online video sites, then I recommend the Creative Labs Vado HD Gen3, Flip Mino HD, Kodak Zi8. I've created a video post on my blog that talks about these types of cameras (a.k.HG pocket cams):
http://www.easyonlinevideotips.com/best ... ine-video/
I also created an interesting video that shows video footage at the Toronto International Auto Show from my Blackberry v.s Canon Cybershot Digital Camera v.s Vado HD the results are surprising..see it for yourself:

Cheers,
Hani
P.S - Thanks Pablo for mentioning me in this discussion...I'm glad to help out anytime I can.

Re: Video Marketing What is the best recorder?
Hey Carlton,
It's funny you should ask. Since I am also starting to do video marketing and I had the same question. I belong to a marketing group where they have a forum and asked the same question. I was told that the flip HD is the best for the money. It's very easy to edit and can upload directly to YouTube and other sites. I also heard the same thing about the lighting, it's great outdoors but you need to make sure that the lighting inside is good.
I just got mine from buy.com. They had the lowest price. I haven't used it yet but I'm looking forward to it. Maybe I'll post some of the videos on here soon and you can see!
Hope this helps you! Good luck!
