Beth,

by all means, if you already have a website with an integrated blog than you that. There's no need to spend more money than you have to.

But if you don't, here's what it would cost you to get started with a self-hosted blog and Wordpress.org

1) Get a Domain (if you don't have one already.) You can get one at GoDaddy.com for about $12.
2) Get Hosting. You can start at HostGator for as low as $4.95/months
3) Install your blog on your hosting account. (That is free. All you have to do is go to your cpanel and click on the Fantastico icon and with a few clicks it will install your WordPress blog. You can search for free templates later if you don't like the default one. There are thousands of free templates out there.)

Voila, you're done. Total cost $16.95
Ongoing monthly hosting as low as $4.95/month

If you want to add an autoresponder. Aweber.com goes for $19/month. iContact.com even starts at $9.95

And definitely take Kurts advice on checking out Brad Callen's SEO course. Learn as much as you can.

Good luck to you!

Man this stuff is tuff LOL
I just want the most effective way to do this & I want to make sure I don't waste my time doing so. There are so many different ways to do this stuff out there that it is just crazy! You know I might have my idea for what I want to put on my site & I am working on a site. It may not be one of the ones ya'll will use, but it will work & with the good priced SEO guy (yes he is good I am just getting a discount for refering others to his service. His service is priced good for anyone!)
Anyone got the stuff to teach me about SEO until I can get started with my guy?
Also the wordpress how does that work & how much does it cost?
If a blog is integrated on my webpage do I still need wordpress?
SEO is that the onyl thing that I need or what other things do I need to do to get my site going?
Feel free to message me to help me out. I am sure you can tell I am new to this world. I am just not wanting to waste precious time on things that don't work. I have time on my hands, but I don't want to spend all my time on wasted methods. I totaly believe in helping others & would help anyone of ya'll out if I could. So if you feel the Christmas spirit & want to give me a gift I would not turn it down :) :D Money is tight for me right now & I can't pay for anything at the moment as in domains or the wordpress etc. I have come to love this site, but at the same time I am overwhelmed with all the information. I would love to be able to put myself into one service, program etc & make that one work well for me. Well gotta go thanks!

Traffic exchanges are very funny, to be honest I also use them although they are not very effective.

The problem with traffic exchanges can be summarised as follows.

1. The traffic is not targeted and the guy clicking is doing it so that someone else can click on his.
2. It can be time consuming and you would rather use that time to search for quality traffic.
3. Some people who have actually outsourced the job and some dumb guy is sitting there clicking all day long and not even reading the sites he he.

However, having said that, some traffic exchanges have upgrades that enables the members to view your site and profile but I have not upgraded in any of them so I cannot say if they are any better.

But I would certainly advice against traffic exhange as they are a complete waste of time unless you have a powerfully written sales page with a very unique product and some kind of an eye catching graphics.

I've heard from people that it's not worth-it. I haven't tried it yet but once I tried I'd like to share if there any improvements on my end. I hope I'm not wasting my time with traffic exchange.
