Here are a few more questions as well as a site that I am working on.
If you do SEO I would like to ask you a question. What would you call this site & what keywords would you use? http://skywatcher1973.weebly.com/Can someone tell me ho the SEO works? Just the short of it. Like do the keywords go off of your site name or the content?

Re: Website question
Traffic exchange is just a waste of time. In this business, you need to be efficient in using your time. One of the best free methods out there to increase your sites' rank is to write articles and and link it back to your site from your resource box.

Re: Website question
I've personally never heard of "Traffic Exchange"...
It certainly sounds kind of weird. I would encourage you to learn the
basics about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) so you can have your
site ranking for many targeted 'key phrases'.
It's a very simple thing to learn if you get the right training.
Good Luck!

Re: Website question
Beth, do yourself a favour and as Sonny says, don't waste your time with Traffic exchanges, these are basically where if you view 1000 other websites, then your web site will be shown a certain number of times to other people who in reality are probably clicking like you, it is time consuming and does not work, take it from somebody who has done it!
You will be far better off branding yourself with your own website and then getting those activities underway that will position you and your offer effectively in the marketplace.
If you require any further clarification on this or anything else, please do not hesitate to PM me, or simply respond to this post.
All the best

Re: Website question
Hi Beth,
Sonny and Cesar are absolutely right, learn the basics about SEO. That's the best thing to do to get traffic to your site ... TARGETED traffic!!
I see that you have a Blogger blog. Quite honestly, I would recommend you get a self-hosted blog at WordPress.org (NOT the free version at WordPress.com)
The reason I'm saying this...I started off with a blog at Blogger and basically wasted almost two years. Almost no traffic at all. Once I switched to a self-hosted WordPress blog my traffic took off. I learned about search engine optimization, started getting backlinks by posting comments on other people's blog posts, made great connections with other bloggers and learned a ton of techniques and strategies by studying other bloggers.
It all started with switching to WordPress
Here are the steps I took...
1) I got my own Dot.Com Domain
2) Hosted it at HostGator (You can get hosting as low as $4.95/month there)
3) Installed a WordPress.org blog
You can do that with a couple of clicks in your Cpanel once you have your domain hosted. It's really easy and you'll have your blog up in 5 minutes. You can also choose from thousands of templates.
Then, just blog away.
Good luck to you!

Re: Website question
Oh, I forgot...
Alan is right. Traffic exchanges are a pure waste of time. I've done them too in the past...before I knew better.
Just think about it Beth... You'll click (sometimes for hours) on other people's websites so you get credit to share your own. Are you really even looking at the websites you click on? I used to have up to 10 browser windows open for the different exchanges I was a member. Most of the time I didn't even see what websites I was on. All I wanted was clicking up the credit to share my own page.
And think about it...everybody else is doing the same thing
Nobody is interested in your website. They're all just after the credit they'll receive to share their own site. Every once in a while you may get lucky that somebody clicks through or fills out a lead capture page. But that's rare unless you have something that this person really wants.
Does it make any sense then to use Traffic Exchanges? I don't think so.

Re: Website question
Have to disagree here. I've used traffic exchanges for YEARS and they always have produced both traffic and new opt-in email leads. Not a lot, but consistently.
The DOWNSIDE is two fold. First, you have to make sure the traffic exchange is being used by real people not computer scripts. Second, you have to find a way to promote both the traffic exchange itself to build a downline of "clickers" earning you traffic views without your effort... and you need to promote your primary or whatever as well. When we first started about five years ago we promoted ONLY the traffic exchanges until we had at least 1000 users in each one. This then laid the foundation for us to get over 20,000 view PER MONTH for the past five years. We can also now send email to our traffic exchange TEAM of 10,000+ members once a week and promote whatever - which ALWAYS produces a result.
Second thing is - yes, you have to "participate" by clicking in the beginning while building the team. This is not worth your time and if you can automate the process using scripts - then so can the entire network and it is basically useless. So we used inexpensive outsourcers to make this happen
Bottom line - unless you plan to REALLY add them to your marketing arsenal - I wouldn't bother. They work but you have to put in a lot of time and effort and learning SEO is a much better idea.

Re: Website question
I have a guy that will do SEO for a very very good price. So all I need is a website & good content & it should start going better?
Man this stuff is tuff LOL
I just want the most effective way to do this & I want to make sure I don't waste my time doing so. There are so many different ways to do this stuff out there that it is just crazy! You know I might have my idea for what I want to put on my site & I am working on a site. It may not be one of the ones ya'll will use, but it will work & with the good priced SEO guy (yes he is good I am just getting a discount for refering others to his service. His service is priced good for anyone!)
Anyone got the stuff to teach me about SEO until I can get started with my guy?
Also the wordpress how does that work & how much does it cost?
If a blog is integrated on my webpage do I still need wordpress?
SEO is that the onyl thing that I need or what other things do I need to do to get my site going?
Feel free to message me to help me out. I am sure you can tell I am new to this world. I am just not wanting to waste precious time on things that don't work. I have time on my hands, but I don't want to spend all my time on wasted methods. I totaly believe in helping others & would help anyone of ya'll out if I could. So if you feel the Christmas spirit & want to give me a gift I would not turn it down
Money is tight for me right now & I can't pay for anything at the moment as in domains or the wordpress etc. I have come to love this site, but at the same time I am overwhelmed with all the information. I would love to be able to put myself into one service, program etc & make that one work well for me. Well gotta go thanks!

Re: Website question
Beth,
The best free SEO course I've seen out there is from Brad Callen at:
http://www.bradcallen.com/
Yep, you've gotta subscribe to it via e-mail, but its the best "nuts and bolts" info course I've seen (for free) that will get you going.
It goes over in very sequential order on-page SEO, rankings factors, some keyword research and linking strategies.
He's a well respected internet marketer and affiliate marketer overall and the best one I've seen out there to get you started, and yep, I've seen most of them out there.
Good luck!
