Wordpress and youtub video errors

Postby Todd Cheek on Sat Jan 29, 2011 11:50 pm

Hi everyone,

When viewing a page from my blog, which has Youtube embedded code in it I get a 404 - Not Found. Now, here's the wierd part. I can view it fine as long as I'm logged in, but when I log off, I get that error. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hey Todd,

I linked to your profile and clicked on your website link and got an error because in your URL, entrepreneur is misspelled as entreprenuer.

Is that the website with the video that won't play?

wordpress sometimes acts funny, I had a post that kept messing up when I was logged out of my back office.

I updated my wordpress and it fixed it.

So try updating if you can.

Same here. WordPress has mood swings too. Updating is the best thing to do.

Todd,

I am certain you will get a lot of help, once you provide enough information to go on. For example:
    * Where is your URL?
    * What post specifically is having a problem.
    * What version of Wordpress (or other blogging software) are you running?

Remember, for most of us, this is our introduction to you and your sites, so always provide enough info a blind man (or woman) can follow what you are saying..

I've had great success embedding YouTube videos on Wordpress blogs with the 'Smart YouTube" wordpress plugin. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/smart-youtube/

It is super simple... you take the youtube video link.... http://www.YouTube.com/fakevideolink

and add a v, making it

httpv://www.YouTube.com/fakevideolink

Then, the plugin takes care of the rest.....

Pretty sure you need to enter it like this in the "HTML" tab, and I usually wrap the link in <center></center> tags because everything looks better centered.
