You are very welcome, Trevor.

While those are my favorites above, at the absolute top...and I should have listed in in first place...is

"Tweet Old Post."

This little plugin will randomly pick one of your old blog posts and tweet it to your Twitter followers thus
bringing more traffic to your blog. Traffic which you otherwise wouldn't have. So that makes it extra
special.

You can customize the settings to your liking. For example, minimum interval between tweets, minimum
age of the post to be eligible for tweet, categories to omit, exclude specific post and more. It's really a
cool little plugin.

There are tons of really great plugins to use. As someone above stated "its what you need is important".
I really learned a lot from Joost http://Yoast.comHe is one of the foremost authorities on WordPress Plugins.

Check out his site for some really good info on optimization tricks and plugins of his and others he recommends.

Then there are all the MaxBlogPress Plugins. MaxBlogPress is offering a Insane Xmas discount on 5 of his best plugins. You can save 70%. Check out the Xmas deal here http://bit.ly/igdY0l (affiliate link) Not spamming you here, you just wont see this link on the regular MaxBlogPress page. I use all of these plugins and wish I could have got them at this crazy price. :D

Check out my blog and you can see some of the MaxBlogPress Plugins in action http://craigandkimwhite.com

Great question. There are so many to choose from and it can eat up a lot of time testing them out to see what works best, so it is good to have some advice.

The ones I like the best are:
Global Translator - which is amazing as it gives you the chance to see what your blog looks like in just about any language
Q and A - because it allows you to easily set up and manage a series of FAQs
Connections - this one allows you to set up an easy way to show listings (kind of in the format of business cards) for anyone you want to promote

I am testing out WordPress SEO by Joost which I like because it shows how the search engine results will display the page title and description so you can get it right.

I want to check out Ilka's recommendation of "Tweet Old Post". That one sounds very useful.
