Hello everyone, I would like to ask this amazing community a question.

What do you do to come up with new and fresh content on a consistent basis? Where do you get your ideas and how do you get them? When you feel blank or have no ideas at all, what can we do to get out of that situation?

Pretty simple really, and it's how I do it, and I can crank out copy and articles pretty darn consistently most of the time.

Have what is called a "SWIPE" file and just add random thoughts and ideas that you come across as you read a lot of different material on many different subjects and concatenate bits and pieces that go together well as you re-write content into a very informative article or blog post plus to make some unique article or copy from what you've read or heard in the near future.

In other words, read a ton on your subject all the time, and any related fields. Also just read a lot in general on many different subjects, current news, and events, and you'll really never run out of things to write about and discuss because change is constant and keeping up is a challenge, but worth it if you want to crank our fresh content on a regular basis.

If you are not growing yourself what do you share? I read and share from books and from blogs. I am able to write in my own words because I am always feeding myself with new information.

I agree with Lynda, learn something new yourself, use and appy it, then share it.

Matt Morris said if you want to become an expert in something, simply read books on the subject, take notes and share what you learned. Most people will never pick up nor read another book afyter leaving school.

For you to know what's new, you have to constantly keep yourself informed. Subscribe to your favorite blog and you will receive the latest buzz in the Market. Even watching news on TV will open up your mind on the latest happenings.

And of course, forums like like this will give you an idea of what people are talking about.

Digest all the information and come up with your own observation that you can write about.

What everybody suggested here is nice to do. Do it because you want to and not because somebody tells you that you need this or that. Learn things from your own experience.
In other words, 'get a life!' Get in involved in your community. Find out what people want and get it for them. Show them that you care about them. Experience life to the fullest!
You can learn how to drive a car by reading a book on the subject. But you really won't know how to drive a car until you actually get behind a real wheel, start the car, and actually drive it to really know how to drive it.
If you know every thing there is to know about flying a space ship, you better know how to navigate out of the space dock when somebody produces a spaceship!
We are all learning every day. So you must ask questions about every day until you know for sure as to what you are looking for. Once you may know, ask that question again, so to teach others what you have learned.
We learn together as we teach others to do the same.


If you can be somebody, be somebody who you can be proud of.

Sometimes just writing ideas that pop into you you mind when you are doing other things. Also do a little brain storming by freewriting for a few minutes. Write down ideas that pop into your mind for about 5 minutes. You can usually get some ideas from this exercise.

Take a question about marketing or something and try to answer that question.
You can always review a company or a person in marketing.
Show a marketing strategy that has worked for you.

Attending webinars you can pick up a few gold nuggets and write a short blog post or article on that. You can always read other blogs and pick up ideas. Also reading a forum and seeing questions that are being asked.

Ideas of what to make content about are all around, you just have to be aware of them.

Sometimes, when ideas hit me, I try my best to write it down. It's much easier than sitting down, starting from scratch and thinking of ideas to write about. At the end of the day, you will be surprised how many nice ideas you came up with.

Thank you for your post!
Many great responses here. I like to get my inspiration from three places. The first is everyday life as there are always things I am learning everyday, sometimes from the most unexpected sources. The second from the books, article, videos, etc. that I have a goal to review everyday. Some times I feel the information overload, but I work on focusing on the areas I would like to learn about at this time in my career/life. Finally, from my mentors, the information that they share is usually something I want to pass on to others and to my team.
