I am intrigued by it as I see many people take action with a good heart but perhaps they do not see the results that they wanted.

For me I know if I am on track when I have the results that I want for example speak with 5 people, have 4 three way calls on schedule, generate 15 leads a day.... these are just some examples.

Another way I know is by following my million dollar mentors (hehe). I am in constant touch with them and keep my on track.

A third way I do it is by educating my self on topics of interests.

How do you know if you are on track?

John,

I create written yearly, monthly, weekly and daily goals.

At the end of each working day, I evaluate my progress.

That way, I know if I am on track or need to do a better job.

As you said,

When you see and have results, from all your efforts.

If I make a blog post and get a comment or comments, I got a result, next I try to find out how to get better results.

If I get a lead, make a new connection or make a sale, I got a result, maybe not as great as I would have liked, but, I can at least know if what I am doing is working or not.

I hear from many successful marketers that they track everything they do in their marketing, thus they can tell if and when they are getting the desired results, and then make the necessary adjustments along the way.

Thanks for your response guys. I have to agree daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals is a great idea, that I implement as well... however sometimes I do find that it puts unnecessary stress. So I switch it to focusing on a specific action rather on the outcome of the action all the time. ie: write 5 articles instead of generate 5 leads.

Have you experimented with this?

The best way I know that I am on track is just to ask someone. I ask some of my readers to comment on what it is I am doing. They do give me feedback. If I am missing in anything, there is an adjustment and we learn. It's like driving a car. How do you know you're going straight unless you look in the mirrors to see where you've been and who's around you?

Good suggestions and comments in this thread. Thought I would add my tuppence worth! Yes I have goals and set out objectives, I also break these down into weekly and daily tasks. Instead of looking at generating leads and numbers, I look at my money making activities, what will make me money? Then work on these first and foremost. Before you know it you are driving leads and generating an income!

The main thing to know if you are on the right track is knowing who can you help the most. Before making any money in the business we must find a connection with that eluding target market. Once that is achieved, we know we are on the right track.

Colette so you suggesting that you kinda follow the 'critical' path to generating the quick result. Good to know that is what I do as well. Awesome!

I have a big timeline for many of my goals on my wall. For example I might want to get to a certain level of traffic so I have it written out on my wall and score out each level as I hit it. I have one for team members and score that out each time I recruit someone new. I also have one for income goals as well as certain things I'd like to achieve for fun - like my own live event, which I'll be able to score off this April.

I know I'm moving forward if each week I get to score out some goals on my timeline.
