Is it kosher to place hyperlinks in your posts on BN?

Postby Owen McHale on Sat Aug 14, 2010 12:38 pm

Hey there,

I just want to check if it's seen to be kosher with BN members if people place hyperlinks in posts or comments that you leave on the BN community? I've just left a review a few minutes ago, and I hyperlinked the image that I placed there, and it occured to me that some might not like this.

Can you give me your thougths on this please?

Many thanks,

Owen

This is one man's opinion...

You see it done all the time but, really, it's not cool.

The concept of Better Networker forum is to promote attraction marketing. The value you bring is contained in the training that you provide or the opinions you express. You get the chance to blow your own whistle in your signature.

Think of it like a game. A training environment. The objective of the game is to provide content that is so irresistible that the reader absolutely HAS to know more about you and will check out your profile or follow your signature link to do so.

It's like a pick-up basket ball game though and you have to call your own fouls. Anytime you find yourself figuratively yelling "Join now before it's too late" or "Get in on the ground level" or linking to your opportunity or product in the middle of a post, you are guilty.

If the link is to some content of value, like an article or even an entertaining clip, then that is a different story.

There are a lot of articles here about the perils of pretending to be something that you are not, which most of us are doing to some extent. You can get the most from BN from letting go and putting yourself out there for critique from the community (hopefully, they have enough sense to keep the details private: a "yeah but" post on the forum and something more direct in a private message).

Don't worry about "being outed", there are enough hungry new marketers joining all the time that you will always be farther along the journey than some folks and thus be a mentor to them.

As stated, this is one man's opinion.

Excellent analogy Tom 8-)

Dear Tom:

This is excellent information for us newcomers to the BN forum! I am legitimately interested in adding value to the forum with my future posts and your guidelines are clear and very down-to-earth. This serves me specially well since I just got a glimpse of how things are done at the Warrior Forum. Man, are they strict!! But like you mention so eloquently, its part of the game and it's just learning how to play the game. SO MUCH TO LEARN!! Anyway, thanks for the great advice and see you in other posts! :D

Yours,

Hi Tom,

Thanks so much for the advice. It's sage indeed. I paticularly like your 'call-out' on pretenders. It is definitely the one area that I have watched my peers who have gotten into the game at the same time as I did, travel down that route, but I am endevouring as much as possible to keep it real.

I've gone out of my way to educate myself on NM and effective sponsoring so that I can offer something to someone without having to claim that I'm a super-guru or anything of that sort. I'm happy for people to decide for themselves whether or not they feel that I have something that could benefit them.

Thanks again for one's mans opinion!!

Hi Tom,

I really like the way you put this. You were kind and polite and in no way offensive. You were explaining the right way it should be done.

Very nice!

It's so refreshing to see a newbie asking and a response from a BN member telling how it is in a nice and polite way.

So it can be done.... ;)
