Life Is What You Make It ...

Hey gang ...
I haven't been around in awhile, and I was feeling a little home sick.

First let me say, this probably isn't what you'd expect to read here.
It's not a traffic strategy, or a recruiting technique.
It's not about business, or how to make more money online.
This probably isn't profound and may not even be relevant for you.

But here it is ...
"Life Is What You Make It"

I just wanted to share that simple statement with you, as it is something I have had to apply in great lengths in my own life recently. You know ... "When life gives you lemons" and all that.

It's not always easy and often times it hurts and can be overwhelming and exhausting.
But every morning I wake up and every breath I take followed by another, is a moment.
Another day, another moment, to do something that moves me towards the life I am seeking ...
my authentic life.

I've also been contemplating the concept that someone, somewhere, is probably worse off than me right now. In fact I know they are. And this has really helped me put things into perspective when the going gets tough. As challenging a situation may be, it's not the end of my world ... merely a moment.
And as the saying goes - "This too shall pass."

Meditating on that idea has made me appreciate everything I do have ...
A wife I've been married to for almost 16 years (we got married early) and who I love and adore more and more every day. I honestly can't believe just how good our relationship is. We're fairly young (36 & 33), we've been through hell and back with each other, and yet, we seem closer than ever, when we've had every opportunity to call it quits on many occasions.

I have 2 amazing boys that are the treasure of my life. My sons are strong and healthy. Super intelligent, smart and devilishly handsome of I may say so. They're smart as a whip and funny as can be. They have big hearts and genuinely care about other people. What more can a dad ask for?

Then, there's my own existence ... I woke up today.
Basically healthy in all respects and capable of doing just about whatever I may want to do.
My eyes, ears, mind, legs and arms, all function just as they should. I live a country where I can do pretty much whatever I can think of. (within reason of course)

The point is ... I'm still here.
It's not always about money and business.

We have to remember family and the things that really matter at the end of the day.
And always remember ... Our life is what we choose to make it.

So here's my question for you ...

Are You Making The Life You Really Want?
Are You Actively Pursuing Your Authentic Life?
Or are your settling for what may have been dished out before you by circumstances?

Do you recognize, and more so, are you truly grateful for the positive things in your life.
The things that can't be measured in a bank account or profit and loss statement?

In the words of one of my favorite song writers ...
"Did you exchange a walk on part in the war, for a lead role in a cage?"

And with that, I leave you with a little musical interlude ... enjoy.

OMG Richard you're a Floyd fan? Well done man.

You weren't around when Floyd released that song, I was all of 17 and loved it. Well done man, and yer right, life is NOT just about business & money.

Have a great day.

I had a special needs child almost 11 years ago. (We have 4 children and been married 19 years.) Ever since that moment, my life changed. I first thought it changed for the worst but I have learned over the years that it was the best thing that could ever happen to myself and my family. She has taught us so much and touches the lives of all the people around us. With that, I am making the life I really want. This is my authentic life and I am proud that I can say that! I never settle for anything and if the circumstance is not what I think it should be, I figure it out. No excuses

I am truly grateful for my life daily. I see postives each day and share it with my family on how lucky we all are.

Thanks for sharing this. I love positive thinkers and people who just don't think about their bank account. There is so much more to life.

Richard and posters,

Thanks for the breath of fresh air (or should I say 'flashback'?)...always in trouble, but so much to be thankful for.

Lately reminding myself of that very thing, that others have it worse.

Last night on TV saw some of the dear ladies who are in constant struggle with their dignity receiving the tourists and showing them around the downtown Eastside of Vancouver wearing their official baby-blue vests. They were so touched that anybody needed them and showed that there is both good and bad in that neighbourhood.

The people who are brought so low, and the people that sit in the mud to help them up and the visitors...it's all kind of wrapped up together in the Olympic hysteria. Having lived in Vancouver BC and visited a bit in the neighbourhood (connection with the Sally Ann, and also the Healing Room), given to the area, shown "the war room" which is a high room in an old hotel overlooking Main & Hastings (where praying for the area goes on 24-7)...know something of what goes on.

Waiting for a bus while 2 inches from a live needle-in-hand crack dance...it was all I could do to stay calm and not hurl myself in front of my teenaged daughter.

Nice to know that those called to business will be able to walk honestly toward those who have the most difficulty in life. Perhaps with the money flow, and a bit of spare time.

Business is business, to be sure. But what we do with the increase is a responsibility to be enjoyed, I expect.

To your increase,
Cathy

Thanks for opening the door Richard for us to reflect on how good we really do have it. I to am happily married (over 20 years) with 2 boys who are a joy to behold. Living in So Cal it can be quite easy to take things for granted and get wrapped up in ourselves all the while there are others around who are struggling while we have so much.

My time in this internet marketing has been brief in comparison to many others but the connections that I have made and am making have been a blessing.

I am striving to be a help to all in need. Will I fall short? Of course I will. I just can't be everywhere all the time and truly can't be all things to all people. But, what I can do is make myself available when necessary.

Thanks again for the refreshing post. :D

Hi Richard

Fabulous post (and cool video too :D )

Sadly my aunt passed away on Friday and this post is very relevant to me at the moment.

We are only given one life but plenty of opportunities to make it what we want...

Thanks for sharing..
