Thou Shall Prosper

Postby Jim Ticehurst on Fri Nov 25, 2011 1:08 pm

This week that has just passed by a contributor on this site was criticized because he was promoting a product (tutorials) which he obviously knew very little about (if anything).

Although the critics may have seemed a bit harsh at the time I do feel that their comments were justified, we all get emails from people telling how good certain products are when most time they have not even seen or tried them themselves.

Anyway to get to the point of this post:
I have just been reading "Thou Shall Prosper" and in it Daniel Lapin quotes the Torah which is of course thousands of years old and the Jewish Bible and the inside the third Commandment is:

‘You shall teach first to yourselves and then to your children”.........
Does that kinda ring a bell?

This is the line that fervent Jews are given to recite to themselves three times a day . (His words not mine)

I also noticed that Kahlil Gibran uses almost exactly the same line in his classis book ‘The Prophet’, I should imagine that he learned that line from the Torah.

I guess that the point that I am trying to make is this; If we are going to promote tutorials and similar types of products then at least let us have the decency to know what we are talking about?

In closing I would just like to say that I enjoyed reading “Thou Shall prosper” – Ten Commandments for making Money.

Here is a list of The Ten Commandments (these are the Chapter Titles):

1. Believe in the Dignity and morality of Business.
2. Extend the Network of Your Connectedness.
3. Get to know yourself.
4. Do not pursue Perfection.
5. Lead Consistently and Constantly.
6. Constantly change the Changeable, While Steadfastly Clinging to the Unchangeable.
7. Learn to Foretell the Future.
8. Know Your Money.
9. Act Rich – Give Away 10% of your Money after- tax Income.
10. Never retire.

I persoally think that this book is a better read than 'Think and Grow rich' (just my opinion)...
Anyway check it out; it’s a great read, regards, Jim T.

Hi Jim!

You make very valid points! It makes it much more difficult for someone to promote something, if they themselves have not even used or tried out what they are trying to promote to others. How often do we see people not being successful, because they don't believe in what they are promoting. Your confidence grows and your wallet grows as well, when you believe in what it is you are offering other people and can show how it can help them too. Thanks for sharing tidbits of that book, I will definitely go check it out!

This is a great tip to use. You do have to be a model of your own products that you promote.
It is hard to follow someone who don't even try their own products but wants you to try their products.

If you owned a Chevy dealership, would you drive a Ford?

Yet, this is the type of mentality in the network marketing industry. It drives me crazy.

My favorite tip, from your list, is never retire. If you love what you do, you don't feel like you are working. I will stay active and busy until the day I die. I love my work. In fact, it's not work, it's a passion.

Just my thoughts.
