Hello friends, my name is Leo.
I'd like to hear your opinion on what you would do if you were in my shoes.
See, last week a a BEST SELLING AUTHOR, facebook friend of mine someone who I look up to and learn a lot from, about internet marketing from attending his webcasts and calls. Posted on facebook he was looking to hire someone who could listen to his 1hr show and write Cliff Notes about the show. Here is what he posted on Facebook:
"Looking to HIRE someone that can Listen to the recording (1 Hour) and do "Show Notes" that will be sent to "Registered listeners" - send me a PM here on Facebook if interested?"
So I messaged him and showed him my interest in the position, he sent me a recording for me to listen too and asked me if I could give him a demo. So I got something together for him and he loved it he says its exactly what he was looking for.
He asked me how much I would need for each session and I don't know how to put a price on that. So I wanted to ask you what would you pay someone to do that for you ? How much would you charge if you were doing what I did ?
Looking forward to seeing all your responses!
Thanks,
Leo

Hi Leo,
If it was a summary he was after, he could have written that himself, so what he's paying for is a positive review with someone's name on it other than his own.
Tricky. Also, the fee should have been posted with the job. That's what I think about that.

what to charge that is tricky. The tricky part is to think with your entrenpeur mind, not your Job mind.
Your friend wants someone else to write up the summary of his webcast because he knows he will make more money spending that hour on bringing in business. You too need to factor in the opportunity cost of spending an hour or more writing up the summary. An hour you could be building your business or playing with your kids...
Do not think - what is it worth to him or in the marketplace, but what is it worth for me to do that for him? Of course, if he is also a mentor having an on-going relationship with him is also valuable. Perhaps you could also start presenting your stuffing during one of his webinars......? In which case, it is also important that you don't charge too little otherwise he will assume that is how little you value your own time.
Sorry this is so ramblilng... Just remember to charge with all the opportunity costs in mind -not just what you think he will think is a fair price. In my former consulting business, I charged $120 an hour just to come and listen in at a meeting. People still asked to come and be a fly-on-the wall.

Betsycz and Andrea, thank you so much for your replies and opinions on this. I had actually gone ahead and charged $70.00/episode. Knowing that I could charge a lot more. At first I was thinking I should charge nothing and just ask for mentoring but on the other hand I was also thinking that my time is valuable and I'd be loosing two hours of it by doing this, I thought $70 would be fair considering he is very helpful to me as well, and maybe I can take those $70 and invest into some of his programs.
I don't always look for instant gratification as it is an enemy when on the road to success.
