People who make sweeping statements as fact when in reality it is only their own perception or experiences.
Some common examples:
1.) Talking to your warm market means you will have no friends left - learn how to talk to them properly.
2.) People quit because they didn't plan or their upline didn't hold their hand or the company sucked - Maybe they quit because they weren't taught how to make money.
3.) Buying cold leads is a mistake - Yet people are having success with this very method
4.) Network marketing is all about relationships - You can have a ton of friends and not make a dime !
5.) Affiliate marketing takes the focus off your primary opp - Don't know a business anywhere that doesn't offer complimentary products or services to the primary purchase.
6.) Scripts are useless and a bad idea - Very much needed when people start out but they need to become familiar with them, make them their own and use them.
7.) It takes years to make money in MLM - if so, that's why you need to be able to offer affiliate and complimentary programs so you can have revenue coming in while you build your primary opportunity.
8.) People join a company - What they actually do is sign up as a commission sales person with the opportunity to sell as much as they want. Big difference from being a business owner.
There's more but I think you get the picture. And for heaven sakes, if you hit any of these points, please stop and realize they aren't the truth, they are only your truth based on your paradigms.
Sweeping blanket statements like this are NOT fact and should be referenced with "In my opinion".
End of rant.

Hi Joyce, again, you're on point. People should understand that things that work for some, may not work for others. The killer is they may try something once, and not even give it their all, and then claim it doesn't work. Like picking up the phone to call prospects and the first two calls turn them down. Then they say, "I tried calling, calling people doesn't work".

Excellent post Joyce.
I am sure I am guilty of making one of those claims at least at one time or another (probably pretty recently too).
Fact is, what works for some might not work for others. So making broad claims is probably a bad idea.
I will do better not to do so in the future
Thanks for the post.

You are right on target Cynthia. I've heard that so many times. "But I tried it and it didn't work". Uh uh, and exactly how many times did you try it and exactly what did you do?
That's one of the reasons I started the 90 day (morphed into 50 day) challenge. You have to do something consistently, over a period of time to give it a fair shot and even then if it's working for others, you better get in and tweak what you are doing if it's not working for you!

Michael, I was guilty of it too and I still stop and think before I post or say something: "Is that really the truth or just my truth?" Would this statement hold true for everyone? If the answer is no I don't post it or say it.
So don't feel bad, you are not alone !

If you learned to eat peas with a fork, it only stands to logic that some will fall off. Do you think your mama would let you throw your fork on the ground and start eating with your hands? Now if you trembled she would likely tell you to use a spoon cause you gotta eat your peas! Develop yourself first and you'll be much more confident about "new" and "unknown" things.
Most of us realize we have to learn to ride a bike to get to where we want to go faster. Learning to ride involves falling a few times until we get the hang of it. Those of us who do learn can get to a lot more places in shorter amount of time. It took Edison 10000 trys to make the light bulb work and he was the greatest inventor in American history. Tenacity is critical for success, if you don't have tenacity, you will quit, then your just a quitter. Not everything works the same way for each person. Just don't stop trying to find what will work for you. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
I have learned from 40s of experience that the Marine Corp and success are totally founded on and attached to this statement "Success is a State of Mind" so its your inner skills that will decide if you succeed or not.

I've just started here & am injoying the ride.
I've seen so many of these statements from all over. I believe that if you believe in yourself and what you are doing & able to help others on their journey, no matter what it may be, you're right where you're suppose to be.
I lived through a 3 month coma back in 2006 and after waking, I've approached everything in life differently. Stay true to yourself, be honest, have integrity with your words and don't think about you as much as how 'what' you say to others & how it might affect them and their lives. We can pretty much chalk it all up to experience. It's the experience's in life that teach us best.
Here's a quote for you:

Re: If I had a pet peeve it would be this ....
What to say that adds value?
A friend who gets upset over being given an opportunity is a fool not a friend. They never were a friend in the first place.
I guess my pet peeve is people who say MLM doesn't work. Yet they never bothered to run an advert. They talked to a few people and quit.
Don't say it doesn't work till after you have run 100s of adverts.
Perhaps we shouldn't tell prospects that it's easy. Even I run adverts so easy a bad speller can do it.
But it is netWORK marketing. Personally I find it fun and often forget the work part.
My other pet peeve is those who claim they don't have time. We all have 24 hours in our day.
