Let me ask you?
Are you someone who posts in your status updates about how GREAT your company is? How you have the GREATEST compensation plan? How you have the GREATEST product since sliced bread? How if you don't join you are a wussie? Get in on the ground floor now?
Messages that we have all heard from every single person yelling from the top of the building when they move from one company to the next......
If so tell me how is it working for you?
Then let me challenge you and ask you this? By doing this who are you attracting? I can assure you it's not quality leaders. While you may score a hopeful quality leader every now in then, the odds aren't in your favor. What you are attracting is those addicted to hype and looking for a quick get rich fix. The inexperienced marketer.
I see people get desperate and think this kind of marketing works because they want to recruit so badly. But, I promise there is a much better way.
What you want to do is attract quality leaders and when I see messages like this in my news feed, I gotta be honest here.....I click spam. Yes, spam. Hate me if you will but as a Facebook marketer who has successfully built several businesses online using Facebook I am on a bit of a mission to help others realize there is a right way and wrong way.
Knowing the right way I can assure you will result in long term positive effects in your business not short term that you will get from building the wrong way.
Not to mention Facebook has really made it quite easy now to mark messages you receive in your inbox, on your wall, and in your news feed as spam. It only takes 4 people to say the same and you are temporarily banned to maybe one day permanently if you abuse it.
So what are your thoughts????

Darn, and here I thought my company was the only one that had the best everything ....... now to find out everyone is using the same line ...... darn !
Seriously I talked to a lady who is doing it consistently. Every post is about her products. I asked her how it was working for her and she said it was (Truth? or ?). Wished her luck although I have never marked her posts spam on my wall (yet).
Although I'm happy for them I do get tired of seeing post after post of half naked large people's before and in progress photos. I'd compile them on my blog somewhere and then direct people there if they were interested in seeing how I helped x number of people.

I loved this article because lately I see more HYPE and get more telling me they signed because they bought the HYPE and now want help to GROW correctly.
It seems very selfish to send when you can make a lot of money fast from this kind of facebook HYPE..This was a NEEDED post
Thanks

Re: Are You Doing this on Facebook?
Yes, I use FB to promote my networking opportunity but I make a special effort to keep it low key and provide links where someone can go to if they like.
I mainly write articles and just post links. Most of my FB friends are friends and family and they are pretty good at setting me straight if I push my company too much.
When I have someone filling up my FB page with junk and posts, I usually un-friend them.
One other thing I will not tolerate is profanity. My page is for friends and family and we just don't talk that way.

Re: Are You Doing this on Facebook?
I am always deleting spam type comments on my wall.
Folk always posting how much they just made in MCA or Empower Network, and I am currently in EN, just not really promoting heavily, plus I don't think I would promote it that way.
I've also seen some of the weight loss pictures. If stuff shows in my feed I don't care for I just hide it, if it get's borderline ridiculous I'll unsubscribe the fool.
The shiite gets old after a while.
I see this type marketing from people who I would think should know better.
Course I guess what I put on my own FB wall is my business. Hopefully I'd post something of value and interested people would find me because of it.

Re: Are You Doing this on Facebook?
yes whether we mark as spam or not we get tired of those messages and just like the commercial on TV we zip right past it to a thread that has value.
Another I hate is "I am ready to help 3 more people become millionaires!" or something with similar verbage

Re: Are You Doing this on Facebook?
I get what you're saying and agree for the most part; however, I wonder how much one is being helped when clicking "SPAM" on a post in the newsfeed. Is there a default explanation that gets kicked over to the spammer explaining why they were reported for spam and recommended solutions?
On my wall? I delete the post and then reach out to the offender telling them why I deleted it. I've found those that are serious about their business will contact me back thanking me for the heads up and are open to learning alternative options or they will visit my sites and research me trying to figure "who the hell does this guy think he is?" :>) Repeat offenders get 'listed' but seldom unfriended nor reported. I once sent a fake Paypal bill to a repeated offender telling him I was tired of deleting his posts so I'm leaving them up but sending him a bill for advertising. (who says we can't have a little fun?)
After all, if I'm reporting or deleting/unfriending people, aren't I shrinking my target audience?
I have created a list titled "spammers" and create content and videos on my wall only visible to them. Newsfeed wise, I filter what lists I want to see depending whether I want to see mentors, family/friends, spammers, marketers, etc.
I'm probably a little more patient with spammers because I am a reformed SPAMMER - clean for just over 4 years. Back in my 'heyday' I would get messages and reprimands from those on their pedestals telling me I was a spammer but I never knew what the hell they were talking about. I would see videos and articles chastising spammers to make themselves look good but very few took the time to actually show me the error of my ways unless I went to their website, signed up for their info, etc. I didn't know what a spammer was (though in hindsight I was one) and didn't think those videos applied to me. This is how I was trained by my upline so I thought I was doing right and everybody else were just self righteous assholes.
One day, I get an email from a guy asking how my methods were working and how I was getting along in my business. After an engaging conversation, he subtly introduced me to Dillard's Magnetic Sponsoring free videos and my attitude changed immediately and I'm forever grateful for that one email.
I could keep rambling but I'll sum up my philosophy. My parents always taught me that no matter what I do in life, never forget where I came from. Reflecting back, I was a SPAMMER and have a hard time reporting/penalizing somebody for methods most are probably trained to do and simply don't know any better. But, that's just me.

Re: Are You Doing this on Facebook?
I understand exactly how you feel...I get tired of everyone saying they have the greatest compensation plan that has ever been created!!!
While I don't report them as spam I do delete them. Diane Hochman did an excellent webinar on generating traffic on facebook and how to build quality relationships...I think our brothers and sisters in the industry that do this would do well to watch this webinar.

Re: Are You Doing this on Facebook?
I completely agree with Joyce, compiling thoughts about your company into a blog is the best thing to do. From my experience people end up appreciating the blog more.
Thanks Joyce for your thoughts.

Don't spam on Facebook about your company unless spam on Facebook was the reason you joined your company.
