content adwords Landing page QS - blog or articles?

Postby Adam Goldman on Sun Feb 21, 2010 2:08 pm

So I have this litte site for creating a mailing list about billiard (Just love this game!)

http://professional-pool-billiard.com/

Up until now I've been marketing by articles, and I want to really pump my list by launching an adwords campaign.

In order to not have a sucky QS from the googlezaurus (as Jason calls it :) ),
I'm want to add some content to it.

Question is,

What is better, google Qs wise?

Just write articles and adding them manually or launching a blog and write their?

Thasnksd a lot to all for helping!

Adam

What is best should not be about Google but rather about your Return Of Invest and building your online asset.

Second, search engines do not type the words, it's people. Google got nothing to do what people type, so focus on the overall bigger picture - build trust, build credibility, engagement and the enviroment that is consistent and also growing.

e.g. your blog.

I suggest building your blog, and start building your list, put optin form them, and provide content relevant to the niche and the needs of your prospects.

You can write articles anyway out there whether it's ezine or articles where forums have allocated the "article section."

Because end of the day, a blog is not just a blog. It's something bigger, it's a place where you have authority, it's an asset in which you invest in building a management system behind it, for advertising in future, for where traffic is coming from etc.

It's also the hub, where you direct communities of yours to, and see the bigger picture and to engage your audience.

So even if you're writing articles out there, doing adwords or anything else...

Get the blog built and sit down and see the bigger picture, the vision, of how it will function in a bigger scale and it's not just a blog.

But the place where you attract all back to and to track everything, to management of information, etc.

Definitely create a good flow of on-going content for good QS on you blog.

I've had 9/10 & 10/10 QS in this way, using a theme where I can hide pages from my main menu, but drive targetted PPC traffic.

The formula I like using best is a video+signup box + a free pdf + article underneath.

...took a couple of hours to put together, but it almost guarantees a high QS, giving you a much better ROI.

What's the biggest item price-wise that you are selling? (Obviously you want a 2:1 ROI to plough profits back into more PPC ads so the process becomes self-sustaining).

I'm getting 12$ on one product nad 18$ on another.

And I only care about lowering my bids through QS, I don't give a rats a** about anything else :)

Thanks for the input !

So what should I choose?

I like this forumula a lot. Videos is one of my favourites and if it has value, and they going to show more like a free pdf, then I go for it.

What I found a problem on most that do this is lack of relevancy.

I remember I clicked on an ad, and when I went to the page, it wasn't even relevant. The title on the ad was deceptive, and pissed me off.

And for sure, High Quality scores will have an impact due to this.

Now, I check advert, and if it takes me to a video that says what advert was saying, then ok, I watch more. And before I hit "purchase," I check out some more. I search online before downloading anything.

I like to find more about the person, e.g. contact details, where they are, if they are accessible e.g. blog etc.

If not.

I don't bother.

If I cannot get hold of the person, they not used even a blog so I can get hold of them, to see more of them - I also don't give a rat's ass what they sell. :)

The biggest component of QS is CTR. This is true not only in Adwords but most other PPC services. So in order to increase your QS, you must increase your click rate with better ads that attract people to click on them.

Adwords also has rules and policies, as do all PPC services, which you can find here: www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdWords/ ... &sort=date

Your page I would consider a squeeze page and is not well regarded by Google. This will give you a poor landing page score on that component of the QS. My suggestion is to make your sales page for that product your landing page. Sell them right away, you may also get better results.

Hey Adam,

In addition to all the great advice everyone's already given, one thing that I've had good success with is adding hyperlinks at the bottom of my capture page with the anchor text being related to the keywords I'm bidding on, and the linked page being keyword-rich for the keywords I'm bidding on.

For example, if I'm bidding on keyword "MLM Leads", I would put a footer on my page with links like this:

MLM Lead Generation Blog | Network Marketing Leads | Network Marketing Companies | Free MLM Leads Articles

Note that for the "Network Marketing Leads" link, I have it set to query my blog for the search "MLM Leads". That way, when Google crawls my site they'll see that I have links to pages that are highly relevant to my keywords.

So that's what has worked well for me, anybody else tried this?

Guys Thanks for all the input,

but I'm still waiting for an answer to my question:

What is better (QS-Wise),

To make a blog containing content of the keywords I'm bidding for,
or to directly post articles about my keywords.

Thanks in advance,

Adam
