What is maximum number of backlinks you should do in one day??

At what stage would you flag Google???

You can build as many backlinks as you want in a day.

It all depends on how many are indexed in that day.
Which most likely won't be very many.

I personally get a bunch of backlinks created for me. I then take that file of backlinks and input it into www.pingfarm.com and ping them for the next few weeks every other day.

I know there are many ways to build backlinks. The most effective way for me is relevant, quality comments on other blogs. I do 10 minimum of those a day. In just one week, its has increased my blogs traffic and it has been showing up on google more frequently

It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that you keep your link building consistent and natural looking.

When Google sees a spike in your link building it sees this as unnatural. Natural link building happens on a consistent basis. Don't build 20 links one month and then 5000 the next and then drop down to 50. This looks unnatural and you'll likely get flagged.

There is no maximum number of backlinks.

You can do as much as you can but the question is "Is it realistic?" Mass production may work for a short period but it won't last. Sooner or later, you will be banned for spamming. Make sure all your posts are of good quality. Ten quality articles will always win over fifty meaningless blurbs.

I think there is no limit of the backlinks you can get as long as they are natural, but try to get quality of backlinks.

Consistency is the key. no matter how many. make it balanced.

It totally depend on how you are doing them. I use comments on blogs, that is a perfect, non-spammy way, (quality not just I agree) You must actually participate with the discussion about the topic at hand.

I'm talking from my own ignorace, so I might be wrong.

Having said that, this is what I think:

More than a precise number, I think what would be suspicious is to have a spike of back links out of nowhere, especially if they're not "natural" (all with the same text, same alt, same target...).

Let's say you run a newspaper site like the NY Times. I would be OK and normal for Google to find everyday hundreds or even thousands of new links to the site. It goes with the trend for that site. It's like: OK, I found 935 new links to 60 pages in that domain today, yesterday 1035 to 83 pages, the day before 863 to 101 pages, so it's normal.

But then, you have the regular blogger with his blog, putting comments on other blogs, so google finds 3 - 10 new links a day, and then one day it starts finding 300!! I think that would be the problem. It's an anomaly, it doesn't correlate with the trend in backlinks, the traffic that the blog is getting. Just out of nowhere start appearing 300 links a day, all with the same anchor text, to the same page in the blog. It's no brainer that there's something wrong.

Some people think that the link velocity is a factor of SEO. If you create large amount of links during short period, you will get larger impact on your page ranking than do the same work during a long period of time.
