What is your favorite source of free traffic? Why?

And what do you recommend to people to succeed with this strategy?

Blogging, absolutely. Because you can add more and more to your blogging strategy as you become more proficient.

Start with blog posts and sharing them using a syndication tribe. Then look at facebook marketing and sharing your posts with your fans/groups etc. Start to do videos and upload them to youtube then embed them on your blog and link back to the post fro youtube.

With blogging you can grow it more and more - I LOVE blogging.

And the quality of leads from blogging and videos is usually excellent cause they know you before they opt in.

When I first started online in 2009 and 2010, I was fortunate that a successful IM'keter wrote an online resourse box/ad for me after I purchased one of his products.

I then took that ad and put it in my sig file in forums, mainly, a forum called internet marketing report card. Things have slowed down on that forum, as far as I know. Haven't been there in a while.

I was surprised at how many leads and sign ups I got from that ad and that forum, I knew where they came from because I was tracking them.

I have since been looking into using the blogging platform as mentioned and still the good old sig file in forum post.

I don't have any right now.....I would actually like to learn more about this. Someone posted about blogging...should I have a blog? What exactly do I do on it and how do I make it useful? Will it add traffic to my site?

The most important thing is to remember that it doesn't need to be perfect.

Get it up, post post post, share share share.

Just make sure you have your pop up capture form on your page, and a form in the sidebar so you collect leads. And be consistent!

I have to agree that blogging is great. I also like to use Safelists and Traffic Exchanges. I feel that they are both very effective Free ways to get traffic. Blog comments. Why, mostly because I'm an opinionated guy and I love to jump in to the conversation. It feels soooo much less like work than most forms of traffic and link building. Too bad I can't blog comment all day long!

LOL! David, that's funny! I agree completely, I actually love blog comments as well, However, if I could do it as much as I would like, I probably would never get anything else done. (Same with hanging out in the forums, I could do that all day too!)

Articles ! Using articles to drive traffic has been used by internet marketers for decades. A good article that ranks high in the search engines can bring you an unlimited source of traffic and the fact that it is free is just one of the benefits.

Very good point Carol! I had actually gotten out of doing articles for a while, while testing out other traffic sources. I was doing a search one day and came across a blog that actually had posted one of my articles on there, that I had put on Ezine Articles 2 years ago! Sooo, I definitely have to agree with you on that one! Articles are definitely a GREAT traffic source!
