I know I need SEO...but What do I SEO???
I've been in this game for a while. I've been getting a decent signup rate using some free resources. However, I'm thinking I want to stick around and start making real money with a website launch I'm going to do. I'm looking at attempting some SEO for my current site and plan to use it as sort of a guinea pig (as I'm doing with my current industry). I understand that SEO is content and backlinks and all that mumbo jumbo. Now normally I'd think you'd stick your squeeze page out there and SEO that, but with that there's no real content so no real SEO. The other issue I have is that I went and wrote some articles a while back and when I really changed to what's working for me now, none of the directories will except my new squeeze page as its very small and has about zip content (but has been converting the best for me). So do I need to completely reconstruct everything I"m doing to get started with SEO or is there something I'm just not getting about what pages need SEO and what pages can get subscribers?

Re: I know I need SEO...but What do I SEO???
Hi Andrew, there is a video here at BN, at the top left hand side of the site of 2 very successful SEO experts, Ray and Ferny.
Don't know if you are looking to invest in any products, but I do believe they just launched a SEO product.
I have been getting emails about it from some affiliates.
Maybe some BN members may have more info on it or might be an affiliate for it.
Just FYI.

I laugh because I just got finished watching a webinar recast from them. They close tonight and unfortunately I don't have the funds. I have a few other SEO sources I've been catching up on as well. I just can't seem to decide whether to redo my entire website (basically turning one of my products I've been using as a squeeze page bribe into a free access to everyone product with a form on it) and everything with it or continue what I'm doing and maybe SEO a squeeze page. My issue is that I don't think I have enough content on my squeeze to make it worth while. Even the article directories won't accept it.

Re: I know I need SEO...but What do I SEO???
To go through everything SEO would take weeks unfortunately.
If I get what you are trying to do, the thing is you cant really optimize a squeeze page. I say "can't really" because I haven't seen your squeeze page.
What most IM'ers do is optimize your main site, i.e. your blog. that is where you want to bring your traffic.
On your blog is where you put your content. In your posts you will have links leading to your squeeze page as well as opt in forms and an ad to you squeeze page on the side.
That pretty much the basic BASIC plan for optimization, as far as the on page and off page SEO, that is a another story in itself.
So no, you don't have to change your squeeze pages, you just need to SEO the "middle page".
Hope that helps. Again I think that is what you are asking.

Re: I know I need SEO...but What do I SEO???
Yes, yes it is. I know my post is a little wonky, believe me so's my understanding. So basically if I'm going to SEO, which if it takes weeks months or years whatever because I'm here to stay, then a blog would be the way to go and work on SEO'ing that, correct? My funnel right now is 2 of my pages plus my affiliate pages. So I have squeeze, sales page, affiliate page which really doesn't lend itself to SEO. I could go with the sales page (which would be my middle as you said), but I feel like I'd lose out on all the subscribers. However, I do like the idea of adding something to SEO. So anything else that anyone wants to add would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Andrew,
I understand where you are coming from. SEO can be daunting. What I have learned to do is just to outsource and let the pro's do what I need. This in turn gives me time to work on other things.
Have you heard of Fiverr.com? They do all KINDS of work for only $5 per job. It's fantastic! I was recently listening to a training call with Richard Dennis who spoke for about on hour on how to use the site. It was called "Fiverr.com - Hire Pros for $5". To listen, just go here:

I hope this helps!

Re: I know I need SEO...but What do I SEO???
Hey Andrew, great question. Here are some questions?
1. How long have you been in Network Marketing?
2. How tech savvy are you? Beginner, Novice?
3. Have you bought any books on SEO online Marketing?
4. How long have you build your business offline?
5. Do you have a blog already?
The reason I ask these questions is because its going to take you some time to get online first and learn the basics then learn more about optimization. My suggestion is to go check out http://tentblogger.com/seo/ and learn from John. Great resource.
I also posted a blog today asking whether online marketing was a Trap. You should check it out, and if its of any value let me know and share it with others.

1. How long have you been in Network Marketing?
A few years online, but I started getting leads only about a year ago.
2. How tech savvy are you? Beginner, Novice?
I'm a one man powerhouse. I am graphic designer, html coder, and copywriter. So in other words yes, I'm pretty tech savvy, and a cheapskate!
3. Have you bought any books on SEO online Marketing?
I bought SEO for Dummies a while ago but haven't done much with it as I've been debating the SEO grind for a while.
4. How long have you build your business offline?
I work with online advertising so I haven't done anything offline.
5. Do you have a blog already?
I have no blog. I've always had the issue of "what do I blog about?"

Re: I know I need SEO...but What do I SEO???
Well from your answers it appears that you know allot about the Internet and as a Developer you know much more than many which is awesome. I would start with John Saddington's blog on SEO which will be a great start to learning SEO.
SEO can be really tricky and it takes time and consistency just like everything else. But if you are consistent then you will be successful. If you want to use SEO you are going to need a Website or Blog, I recommend a blog. Now, you say you don't know what to write about, you already have expertise in the area of coding. Why not talk about what you do online, that directly relates to your business.
Give people tips, ideas, new technologies and how they can use them for their business. Read tons of books and share that knowledge in your own words. Implement, tweak, and share. Those are the keys to the game. Its taken me almost 3 years online to build a brand for my name Lincoln Parks, because I am competing with the Lincoln Park Zoo, etc. It takes time, but you should incorporate all mediums and just keep reading and sharing.
A blog will be your best friend.

Re: I know I need SEO...but What do I SEO???
Have you tested PPC with any of the major Search Engines? Plus there are many not so major Search Engines and PPC networks that may fit your monthly marketing budget too. It's just a matter of knowing how to get all your ducks in a row so to speak and manage it.
It's takes "keyword research" and knowing your objectives, but it could be well worth it for you while you are developing a site and/or blog to rank in the organic listings.
It depends whether you are willing to learn and do all the work and testing yourself, or are you going to "outsource" your PPC management? That's what you have to determine. If I were you, assuming from what you've said, you are not an expert at PPC, or SEO. I would outsource both for now, and for as long as you need to until you yourself have a good understanding of what needs to be done to manage a PPC campaign, and Search Engine Optimize pages on your site, and blog.
There is a lot to do in both areas, however you need to remember it all starts with keyword research and there is a lot to decide on first in this very important area before you even move forward with building your site. Of course as the other gentleman recommended, a blog may be easier for you to manage initially, and so again, you have to determine what platform is best for you, and your needs.
Then again, I recommend having a website, and a WordPress blog with all the "plugins" you'll need initially uploaded to your webhosting acct. The SEO Pack being one of them of course, and work out a game plan for your website, and blog.
I know this is pretty simplistic, but you have to "spec" things out in detail either with a detailed outline, or flow chart, or both, and take it from there again keeping your target market and keyword research in the forefront of your SEO/SEM strategy.
Example: Many people, and I would say most people and companies, build a website, then decide to Search Engine Optimize it, and this is all wrong. You need be building the website with SEO always being done as you go, like the layout and linking structure of the site for starters, and optimizing content and pages as they are being built. This is the ideal situation, but most of the time it isn't done.
Anyway, I hope it's clear what you need to do for starters, because there is way too much cover here on this subject, and with that being said, I hope this helps get you started in the right direction.
