SEO What's Working Now

Postby Michelle & Bill Pescosolido on Wed Aug 01, 2012 7:48 pm

With all this talk about penguin updates & panda updates how do we know what works?? Google always keeps us guessing. I think we should share today what is working. I know for myself we were generating 60 leads a day organically until the google changes. Our blog got hit hard.....

We are very aggressive in our marketing and with all these recent updates, even though we got hit hard we did recover nicely.

So how??? We covered our butts with backlinking from not just one source but from many. That way if one type of backlinking gets hit by Google we are still covered because we diversify.

What's working for you now? Did you get hit hard?

Hi Michelle and Bill,

Good info by the way, one question if i may?

Does the quality of the backlink make a difference?

Thanks,

I agree with Michelle and Bill's strategy of diversity. That's extremely important.

One of the big tactics that continues to work for me? Guest posting on high quality websites continues to show strong results for me. Guest posting, simply means you're writing a post that will be published on another persons website in return for a back link and traffic. One of the websites I use to find guest posting opportunities fast is a website called http://www.myblogguest.com. This website is free to sign up and there are a ton of blog owners on the website looking for people to contribute posts. You can also view blogs looking for guest posts by category like "Business" so it works great for your MLM / network marketing blogs too.

Great share Bruce,

I just read about this on my FB wall and got an email today about it from a trusted blogger I follow.

Sharing quality content and building relationships always comes out ahead.

Comment links, forum profile links, social book marking links, and all of the old backlinking methods just don't do it any more.

You see what it all comes down to is traffic and clicks. If you are getting a ton of traffic you really don't have to worry about ranking high in the search engines. And that is what Google is all about now. It's just not enough to have 100's of thousands of backlinks pointing to your site anymore. If no one is clicking through on your links then Google is going to view your site a s non-relevant.

That's why a majority of the links above don't work. Because even thought a person had tons of them, nobody was clicking on them, and now Google takes that into consideration.

Now obviously quality of links matter but not like they used to (God, I miss those days), but whether or not poeple click through is just as important.

Anyways, I could make a 5000 word post but don't want t do that to you guys. The best backlinks you can get these days are contextual links that you get from guest posting. Especially if you are guest posting on a high traffic site. You get the good links, most people will click though your links, and you are getting all that traffic back to your site, so Google is gonna give you favor over other sites.

Well if you read the article above then it would seem that Google will be moving more towards only showing paid ads, but as this does not necessarily give the "customer" the best search experience, I cannot see how this would be sustainable long term.

I have recently started paid marketing to add to my SEO efforts and have been more diverse with my social marketing so exactly as Bill and Michelle have said - if you make sure all your marketing "eggs" are not in one basket then you will not lose your whole business if and when Google decide to shake things up a little more!.

Hey Oscar Definitely the quality of the backlink effects your rankings. The higher PR the better your ranking. But, with that said you don't have to aim for all high PR ranking it's good to mix it up.

But i dont get solutions to recovery the penguin update, I suffered it, I need suggestion how to solve.

I would suggest you just keep doing what you are doing and avoid things like forum backlinks, blogging comment backlinks, and low quality article backlinks. If you just continue to create quality content and go after a diversified amount of backlinks you should bounce back.

I have read that there is a penquin update coming out shortly. No one knows what the updates will be but I'm sure it will just be a joy, lol. As much as I hate t, you have to admit it's kinda fascinating watching stuff like this roll out.

It's like an epic battle between Google and SEO's lol

Agreed.

Content is King. Give yourself alerts and updates to write more content and upload more videos at least two times weekly. You'll also want to sign up with article distribution service and pingers.
