It's hard to tell who's the best copywriter because it's hard to tell who writes their own copy.
Just because someones name is at the bottom of the copy it doesn't mean they wrote it.

You! are the best copywriter on the Internet.

If you believe it.

And you're willing to study others, any others. Look at the material they put out ie Frank Kearn, John Reese, the StartBusinessMentor :-)

See and do.

I'd say Clayton Makepeace puts out the most high-quality copy-related
content I've seen. You can learn a lot from his stuff.

There are a lot of copy gurus out there but Clayton puts out a
daily newsletter that is just awesome. He has a very committed
team of writers working on it.

I'm not a fanboy, btw. I think he's a political windbag,
but his sales copy rocks.

One of my favorites is David Raybould. This guy writes killers sales letters for the top product launches out there. If your serious about having people pull out their wallets within 2 minutes then he is your guy.

Sample of his work

Hello Steve,

Let me start by saying I'm a BIG Frank Kern fan but for copywriting I put my money on John Carlton and one of the main reasons was because of you guessed it Frank Kern... below is a testimonial from Frank himself

"Just before the famous StomperNet launch, everything was in doubt. We cornered John for advice, and in just a few minutes he provided such clarity that the fog melted away... and I was finally able to write the pitch that brought in over $10 million in one day. That's twice he's helped me -- long ago, when I was broke, clueless and desperate, I somehow found John's 'Kick Ass' course... and halfway through, a calm confidence came over me. I told my wife that everything was going to be all right, because this really made sense. When John talks about changing your life, he's not kidding around." Frank Kern, Mass Control.

I recently purchased his simple writing system course and its everything you would want and more. Here's the link if your interested (and no its not an affiliate link) http://www.simplewritingsystem.com

To answer your question of who the BEST of all-time is... well that's just a judgment call but definitely One of the best ever besides John would be his mentor Gary Halbert.
Sincerely,

Dave Statler

It is really wild that I don't see the names of Mike Dillard, Tim Erway or even The Great Ben Settle mentioned in this post. Those three are the sole reason that we are all here. They are some of the bests at writting web copy that you can find. Given that they have not had $1,000,000 days like Frank Kern but that day will come...

"If You build it...they will come...."

P.s But at the same time...you don't see Mike Dillard sitting around with Tony Robbins....(While I love Tony...but he is not for this industry.)
