So if there was any doubt as to whether or not capture pages are effective for lead generation, look at who else is using a standard, above the fold optin form:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/ ... SEM-lb-cnn
I found the ad for it on a banner ad on CNN.com. If you notice at the end of the link, there's some tracking code. Interesting....
I haven't been able to find one for McCain. Any one find a McCain capture page?

P.S. I don't endorse either candidate at this moment, not am I seeking to be convinced to go one way or the other.

I'm not endorsing either candidate, but it's been said that the reason Obama is doing so well, is that he has a crack team of online marketers behind him. His online presence is something like 3 times what McCain's is.

Looks like the basics of internet marketing can be applied to almost any venture you're involved in. Good for our politians for leveraging new technology!

Yep, I gotta hand it to Obama for his massive use of CPM networks.
A friend of my worked as a director in the Hillary Clinton campaign and it was frustrating their campaign, because everywhere they looked, Barack Obama was there. Radio, TV, Print, Internet, etc.
I first caught on to his CPM advertising back in January, and I was very impressed with how well organized his marketing team was, and how knowledgeable they were as it relates to some VERY VERY advanced marketing strategies.

I love this thread, I thought the same thing... Obamas is very web 2.0 and clean, McCain's looks like a crappy myspace page... Now I am not endorsing one over the other either but it is apparent that Obama has a good team working for him.

Politics is no different to any other form of marketing and selling. The guy who can put on the best show will win.
Maybe someone handed Obama a copy of magnetic sponsoring?
Sadly, british politics (coupled with a government job) has left me very cynical in all things government.

Even better, we now have the persuasive power of reciprocity working with our lead capture form. Plus supporters can build their own support and fundraising page.

That's dedication Mark. Giving up your Signature for advertising and using it to support a cause.
Looks like you've learned some big words since we last saw each other.
I had to take out the dictionary to be able to understand the definition of 'Tendentiously'.

Well, I must confess that I discovered that word today.
Re: my sig file, yeah I'm sure I'll lose some business by publicly declaring my support for Obama but, as you kindly inferred, sometimes there are more important things than making a buck. Besides, I figure if I can work well with predominantly Republican business colleagues and those wacky Libertarians ... just kidding Mike!, they can put up with a damn liberal like me.
All the Best,
Mark

Re: Capture Pages in Politics?
Well Ferny it sure looks like we are all headed into the age of capture pages for all venues involving a computer and a concept, item , or campaign. I believe it is a wise use of technology to enable maximizing the potential and increasing the edge for successful dominance in any marketplace.
As for Mccain , I dont see a capture page being used yet. Lets see what happens.
