Something disturbing that I have noticed.

Postby David Batchelor on Tue Dec 02, 2008 6:51 pm

Is it just me or do you think people should provide a certain amount of support after they buy your product or join your affiliate program?

Warmly,
~ David :)

David,

That's a loaded question... what type of support are you seeking? I think it all depends on what you are asking for.

Yes, I do feel like you should offer some support. If you have sold them a product and not get back with them on how they are doing, feeling, etc, then you have done nothing more than sell them a bill of goods. If they join your program absolutely be a mentor to them. If that is not something that comes easy because you may be new to your own program, then get someone else to help them. If there is anything I can do to help, please feel free to ask. Mickey

I think it depends on the product you purchased.

There are some programs out there that are a one time deal kind of thing, and all the training is in the back office, but I still provided 30 minutes of my time just to get the person going. But that's just the added value I personally like to give to people who give me money.

If it's a clickbank product, then No.

It all depends on what kind of product it is, and under what terms you bought it.

That's my take on it.

Yes, but what if the training is not sufficient? At this stage I wouldn't like to say what the product is because it might adversely effect a couple of people held in very high regard in this forum.

However they promised things and it hasn't worked like they said, even though I followed the instructions. They won't respond to emails or answer their phone or return phone messages. To me. it's just so less then professional and agree with what Mickey said.

David,

Hey believe me, this is no problem. You just bought from the wrong big fish. I did the same thing, and bought from one who has all the videos out there and more information to sell me. This marketer doesn't even seem to know I've bought two products through the affiliate.

The silver lining behind this is, Karma takes care of itself. I was in the car business for five years, and I can tell you that I worked the hardest for customers I never sold.

And I worked very hard for the customers I did sell!

The lesson here is to always provide value regardless of your own needs. Since we don't have big businesses, we have the unique opportunity to brand ourselves unlike the big fish who have outgrown the business model they are kind enough to share with us.

We need their expertise, but we also need the feedback from others in our own peer group!

Feel free to contact me if I can help.

Hi Gary,

It was the only big fish who was offering it and seen as it was through MD and because the person is held in high regard in this forum, I thought I would of been safe Gary.

I thought and still do, it's all about providing value. So I just assumed after several emails and phone calls they could of at least replied to my question. Maybe they just make to much money so don't need to bother about the value side of things.

David,

Being a product owner myself, I've seen my share of customer questions. One thing you have to keep in mind is that there may be one product creator to field all these questions, and HUNDREDS of customers. It's very difficult to address all the questions.

A simple case in point: my Facebook comments. I wish I can reply to every single comment and be "social" but that would just take way too much time - more than I can afford at the moment. So I am forced to pick and choose.

When you purchase a product, the value is IN that product. What goes outside of the that product, including questions, is a nice bonus. But you can't discredit that product simply because he/she didn't make the time to answer everybody's question (including yours).

You are not paying for his attention, you are paying for his product which he delivered.

It'd be like you buying a car and expect it to come with auto insurance, free car maintenance for life, driving school, etc.

I think there are two kinds of business. One is the numbers game and the other is a of quality. I used to work in this nail salon and they played the numbers game. Unfortunatly people got infections and cut. They had alot of complaints and lost clients. I refused to go at their pace and I established some life long repeat clients. Please don't take this as a brag. I am just making a point. If you are a big fish or not word gets out if you are not accountable to your customers. Treat people how you want to be treated and remember when you were green. So if you are a hard worker and really commited then in my opinion you should get the support you need to grow your business.
Cheers Dorie
P.s. Personally when I am ready to buy next time I am going to do it from a leader who is interested in my sucess as well as theirs.

I totally agree Dorie,

At least Raymond was up front about it, not like this other person who says they will support you and even gives you their phone number to call. It's one thing to say you won't support people (which in my opinion, still isn't good at all Raymond) but it's totally another thing to say you will support people and then you don't.
