Many people ask the question whether or not leads are necessary.
Think of it this way...
No matter what your MLM business is the concept is the same across the board, it's a numbers game!
Right or Wrong?
Now this isn't saying building relationships is not key, but this is saying the masses are what need to be hit, this is one thing that a lot of people do not understand. Yes it is imperative to contact friends and family but what happens when you run out, how long does it take to make a new "friend".
One thing I have found is that company leaders, use leads how ever they get them they use leads. There's a saying that goes, "If you want to be rich and wealthy, do what the rich and wealthy do." Well they use leads, so use leads!
I am also not saying go out and blow $300 on a list of leads. There are cheaper ways to do things.
Another thing we must understand as business owners is business was not created for us to make a DECENT living, if that was the case why was the concept of a JOB created? Business was made for people to become financially free, almost everyone in MLM is working hard, but so are everyday individuals at their JOBs.
So why not work hard to become wealthy?

Re: The Million Dollar Question!!
Good post Bryson, and I agree without leads you have no business.Whats more important promoting your MLM or building your list. But how do you go about finding quality leads this is the question there are many ways you can do this, and I wouldn't recommend buying them the only people who make money using this method are the companies selling the leads.
Social media web 2.0 has created countless ways to generate leads by building a web of content using social platforms many of them free.By doing this you're effectively branding yourself as a leader that people will follow.
And you hit the nail on head with this one,it often times baffles me why anyone would what to work hard 20,30 years to make someone else rich, but they won't work hard 20,30 years to make themselves rich which would enable them to leave a legacy if done correctly that will last for generations to come.

I agree, leads/prospects/customers are the life-blood of any business. I definately would not recommend buying leads though, but ONLY if you care about the quality of your leads. These days we all have better control over the leads we get without having to buy them.
It's an odd old-time mindset that is hard to break out of once you have it ingrained. Most of those hard workers working to "make someone else rich" dont see it as that, they are too busy working to figure that out. Most jobs are made to be attractive to the workers, so attractive, that all the worker bee thinks about are the attractive things like their next pay check, bonuses, benefits, or 401k, instead of how much their efforts are really worth and whose benefitting more off of their hard work and $/hr...

Re: The Million Dollar Question!!
This is very true but even more so as MLM business owners we all need to understand the money we generate isn't in the PRODUCT, and it isn't in the OPPORTUNITY our business has....
The money in MLM is in TRAINING!!.
It does matter where your leads come from but in more of a since you don't want people to just join your business and sit there. If you do not train your setting your business up for FAILURE!!
YOU MUST TRAIN PEOPLE TO DO WHAT YOU DO!!
Especially if you are the individual that runs your "business briefings", and you position yourself as the spokesman or the presenter.... you are giving no value to anyone. You could have people running to sign up for your products if you train them in an area of value, that they could use in your business or not.
PEOPLE WILL BUY ANY PRODUCT YOU SALE, IF YOU'VE GIVEN THEM SOMETHING OF USEFUL VALUE BESIDES YOUR PRODUCT OR OPPORTUNITY!!
