3 Reasons Why People Don’t Buy Your Stuff!

Postby John Murphy on Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:55 am

Do you remember when you first got started in business? When you took it personally that people didn’t buy your stuff or join your system? I can remember that. I thought at the time that they JUST DIDN’T GET IT!

After some research and study I have actually found out the 3 REASONS WHY PEOPLE DON’T BUY YOUR STUFFF!

Here are the 3 reasons:

1. They Don’t Want It.

If people do not want to buy your stuff, let them go. The trick here is to only work with those who actually are interested in what you have to offer. This is basic marketing 101. But for example with your ads, make an appeal to specific group of people like, “Frustrated Business Owners: Free Report Gives You the 5 Secrets to Turning your Business Around! By identifying frustrated business owner we are only asking for frustrated business owners. Basic Stuff. So don’t waste your time and energy trying to convince people who are not interested.

2. They Don’t Have The Money.

Most new business owner truthfully believe that people do not have the money. The truth is every buddy has money. They might want your business/service/product, but they don’t want it bad enough! This comes down to your ability to create desire with your prospect.

3. They Don’t Believe You!

This is the Number One reason why people do not do business with you! They simple do not believe that you can give them the desired result. For example on Youtube yesterday a guy sends me a message saying he teaches marketing. So naturally I look at his YouTube page. Guess what? I KNEW RIGHT AWAY, I KNEW MORE ABOUT MARKETING THAN HE DID! I buy marketing course and stuff all the time. It was clear that this guy had no idea. There was no way that I would ever buy from him.

Now that you know the 3 reasons why people don’t do business with you. Look for my follow up article about how to get people to LOVE you!!!

i'd personally add another reason

4> They buy elsewhere

am sure there are many people out there that have experienced this...you work you backside off... promoting where ever you do...say classifieds, newspaper ads , articles even...

and the prospect then perhaps types the name of that opportunity to Google to further do their due diligence ...(especially for higher ticket items)..and rightly so...thats wise to do so...

and bang theres a google adwords there from a fellow distributor/ affiliate or whatever from the same company..only difference being they have got camtasia videos of how they made $30,000 last month, and picutres of there aston martin, ferrair or whatever..you get the idea!

...don't get me wrong now , not attacking people whom do this, but its a shame for the 'lil guy' starting out...and yes some real good and genuine mentors whom will do the **MOST IMPORTANT** thing of all - MENTOR you to DUPLICATE there success...

...but same time..theres people out there that won't do much in terms of real support and mentoring for their downline....and just keep cashing in by showcasing there flashy car or £30,000 this month! sales letter lol on auto pilot...

i myself have had calls internationally from people whom have joined up in an opportunity...sucked into the hype, and never really got any of that support that was claimed ...things such as

'Yeh you can call me anytme' ...yet 90% of the time there number goes to voicemail/calls never returned...

"am on skype 24/7!!!' and ud be lucky to catch them on skype once in a blue moon !

you get the idea....

ofcourse as said..not everyone is like this, but it happens,...and I know no doubt even the lil guy could have dedicated much more support and time to help the new sponsored member...

Something to think about actually...if someone is making 5/6 figures a month in any given opportunity, presumably they will be recruiting a pretty more than average amount of people...so how can they honestly claim to still be able to dedicate alot of there time and support to EVERYONE?

will be interesting to read others opinions regarding this...

Waseem,

My answer to this is that you are not making yourself unique enough. People come to John TS Murphy for one reason they want RESULTS! It is the results in marketing, making money, and creating a kick ass lifestyle is the reason when they come to me, they stick with me.

If your marketing isn't giving people this impression you need to reach out and make it so. Make statements about yourself. Bring out the best you can be. Anyone can buy anything from anywhere....BUT there is only one John TS Murphy (or Waseem). You have position yourself for that. I will go in detail how you can specifically create desire for people to do business with you. I will write it after my mid-day appointments.

yes i understand what you mean John

no doubt to some extent we must all emphasis we can get results, and show results...indeed positioning is important...

Creating that lifestyle, desire and freedom is no doubt the reason why many people get into this industry the first place, but what am trying to say is, you can be a genuine mentor , coach...and help people duplicate what you do ...

but for some people, there definition of success or desire may not be owning a F430 Ferrari or a Gallardo, yet they are indeed successful and can help others to do the same...I myself for example this week alone...even with positioning and going about branding myself the right way...lost a potential sponsored member....whom decided to go spend that $2999 sign up fee elsewhere....

not bothered by it, as one lost sale does not mean am not making a healthy income and successful, but emphasizing what takes place...even if Waseem or John TS Murphy emphasis they can get you RESULTS!

I went about attracting that person the right way , branded myself has someone whom knows what they are doing (not the fake till you make it nonesense)....or someone whom does a video claiming to be a mentor...yet you clearly can tell they know nothing from what they say..

Anyway, the same prospect funnily enoughwithin days the same me back sayin "I should have signed up with you instead' I cannot get hold of my sponsor, i don't even know why I signed up with him anymore ...etc"

anyway, although John TS Murphy, or Waseem will not be smacking a picture of a ferrari or Lamborghini in your face when you drop by there website,..or a youtube video of 'me revving my 6litre engine' lol...

does not mean they are not successful and can genuinly help...but unfortuntely...even with the right positioning and unique selling points...people will get sucked into hype and go elsewhere

but once again sayin thats not wrong, and am not saying everyone whom drives a flashy car in an opportunity won't help you,..

in a nutshell, doesn't matter how much money your making to the prospect...but what matters is our ability to teach the person to duplicate our success with -

Time
Help
Support

but some prospects will forget about that and go join someone else...whom although making alot of money...may not really be able to dignify them with that real help and support they deserve...

I will add to it.
I have found most people would not buy from you if you do not create trust with them and a sense of urgency in the item you are marketing.
The Best minds are not born geniuses, They are people who saw simple things and made them extraordinary. An open mind with a great mindset to learn, unlearn and relearn.

This can easily be remedied. You aim at the audience group that are after what you have. Or you engage the audience group to find out what solutions they want. That way one doesn't need to convince anyone or try hard to sell. One can hammer at anyone but end of the day, it's about the solution they want and we're aiming at the people that want the solutions we have.

Creating a desire is easily done. You raise their emotional insight of pain, what they are going through, their frustrations, and highlighlighting the outcome they want, and reveal how you can help them get from..

A..................to the outcome.....B.

That's where ones marketing system when refined should also come in. Even when one opts in the capture page, you can pick up the phone to find out more, in what their needs are, their frustrations, their hot button, what they want, and what's the outcome they want.

The connection in that someone has listened, understood exactly what their needs are. For isn't it true, they do not buy with logic but emotionally, and then after it's logic.

For these steps to happen, one must give value and over deliver, giving the best content and branding their own authority, revealing that this person can help them, and so they want to know more.

This is why you'll hear two vital concepts to marketing online:

1.) know your target market. study them, think like them... THEN brainstorm keywords, ads, your angle, etc...

2.) copywriting..

Using the resources I've found over the past year and a half online (Frank Kern, Joe Vitale, Yanik Silver, and more) you can sculpt a sales letter that is believable and one that produces buyers..

By using facts and proof, you can decrease (but never eliminate) the people that "don't believe you"...

But no matter what we do there will be people that don't buy... If you can, reach out to these non-buyer and find out why... have them do a survey for feedback.. then you can tweak your marketing, emails, etc..
