Don't Put All Your Eggs in One Basket

Postby Harley Steele on Sun Feb 22, 2009 11:54 am

BetterNetworker is an incredible community for us all to learn from each other. But how many are spending most of their time posting on BN in hopes that others will be attracted to them? If this is you, don't feel bad you are not alone. Your commitment to share value with others is spot on, but just make sure you branch out. Don't rely solely on BN.

Get out there and find communities that are different than BN. Why? Because as much as BN is a great source for MLM and relationship building education, it centers on teaching everyone to brand themselves through helping each other. This is great! However, as we all faithfully and genuinely apply the practice of giving back in the form of valuable content, the truth is we hope a few readers reach back to us and form that magical connection. That is awesome!

But we are all doing it on BN. I am not suggesting you need to stop, but recommending if you aren't getting into other online communities and sharing the same knowledge you are on BN, then you need to start.

Finally, Mike Dillard makes a fantastic point about online social networking; don't spend your entire day doing this. Make sure you are doing other things that are productive for your business. Another words; don't put all your eggs in one basket!

Harley, Joy and I agree with you 100%. BN is like you say a terrific avenue for attaining knowledge from one another, but what good is knowledge if it is contained within a glass bubble or should we say glass egg?

I agree with you totally. Don't but all your eggs in one basket. I love BN but only for 20-30 mins a day then i'm off working other projects to build my business. Very nice article! Thanks

Hello -

We totally agree. We try to tap into different resources, meeting different people in different businesses. We diversify our business and don't rely on just one basket.

Thanks for the reminder :)

I agree! I was already with a few other social networking sites before joining BN, and I just joined 2 more, just this weekend. My problem is trying to balance my time between them all. But, I enjoy social networking, teaching and learning. I enjoy it as much as I enjoy adding people to my downline :D What a great feeling.

i like my eggs sunny side up... with bacon... and bbq sauce... maybe a bit of mayo too... oh yeah!

anyway... back to the article and my experience with it... when you choose to branch out... do it one forum or network at a time so you can get a feel for the people and the dynamics of the group... each social networking endeavor operates a little differently and it would be wise to "mirror" their behaviour

Remember, before branching out to other places understand every last detail on how and why you do here. If one chooses to move out without understanding they can work twice as hard for a handful of leads.

Great point, I recommend that everyone picks a couple different marketing methods:

Here are mine:

-Adwords
-Articles/Blog
-Forums
-Ezines
-Videos

Every buddy needs to be doing this. Not only that if your website isn't converting vistors to leads CHANGE YOUR SITE!

I changed my site yesterday and saw a 7% increase from vistors to leads!

Nice post and I agree BN is definitely the place to be for education, training and resources pertaining to the network marking industry. And that's why I come here, many well renowned industry leaders hang out here as well, always good to hear what they're talking about. But I also belong to many other social sites, that's what being social is all about its the essence of attraction marketing.
Persistence and Determination is a must, training plus action equals success !And above all else don't ever quit.
