Twitter - The Follow You Madness Has To Stop!!

Postby Greg Martin on Wed Apr 01, 2009 11:52 pm

Just some more information on this whole Titter thing... I went through Ed Dales 30 Day Challenge free internet marketing course in August last year (which taught me heaps about marketing online) and subscribed to his theory on Twitter back then.

Autofollow in Twitter is crap because the premise that you are following someone on is not based on authenticity and without authenticity in your marketing you are doomed.

This is why we are seeing the demise of MySpace because the premise of connecting with people was not done with authenticity. In other words you weren't being real in what you do.

If your business is not built on authenticity & reality then in the end you will have no business.

Greg,

My guess is that you aren't much a Twitter enthusiast. Sure if you abuse auto follow programs you'll end up with a bunch of random useless people's tweets and updates. However there are a couple programs such as Twollo that are nothing short of amazing. If you care, check out this tutorial video I made on it located here

Just like with any social networking site, you can use them to their full leveraging power or you can dig yourself in the ground. You can come on Betternetworker and just destroy your reputation and any chances you have of establishing an online presence; likewise you can come on and just rock the boat! Either way Greg, I highly recommend you jump on with Twitter because it isn't going anywhere anytime soon :)

Plus, any adept marketer out there gladly swoops up any and all leveraging power they can. If you're on the side of bashing and negativity it sounds like you're sitting on the fence with this, and there's no money for those fence sitters 8-)

p.s.
just checked out your Twitter page, and the fact that you're only following less than %10 of the amount of people following you says a lot.

It will take you a long time to develop any leveraging power with that kind of mindset. I'm not saying to go out and start following a crap load of randoms. But at least give the courtesy to follow your followers back....

Hi Greg
Thanks for sharing the info, although I think if used correctly it is a great marketing tool.
Best of luck
