Many folks feel building an MLM business takes too long to produce a profit.
Most are afraid they'll run out of money promoting them before they start
to see any results, which is why funded proposal systems exist.
And many more are afraid they'll have to become salespeople to "push"
products and services.

Unfortunately MLM has gotten a bad name over the years and I have run across people that no matter what you say, they will have nothing to do with it. It’s to bad because I think it is the perfect business for everyone but especially for stay-at-home moms, students that need extra money, people that have jobs that can’t make it on one income, etc. For the most part, it is very inexpensive to start, you have flexibility to work around your schedule and the income potential to surpass traditional income.
I think the most common argument “is this a pyramid scheme”? I simply tell them that pyramid schemes contain no product or service. They are just an exchange of money (which is illegal) so no, we are not a pyramid scheme. As in all businesses there are levels of people. At the top is the President, below them are a few mangers, below them are more office personnel, etc. The structure is pyramid shaped but that is the only resemblance we have to a pyramid and as you move up in traditional business, you can also move up in our structure creating that below you.
Another one I hear frequently is “I don’t have the time”. I usually say, “then this is the perfect business for you because there is no set time or days you have to work. You can do it without changing your daily activities. You see people all the time, at the bank, at work, in the grocery store, etc. It’s just a matter of sharing information with others that you know could use your product or service or those that you know could use some extra money …… now we all know that there is a time commitment to this but if you are not going to get these people in because of that, they can come in on a slower pace and as they start generating extra income on the very part time level, they will start to see the benefit of putting in more energy and time. I have seen it many many times. Somehow time appears when the money starts showing up.
One more common argument is “I don’t want to push this on family or friends”. I ask them this …… have you ever seen a good movie or eaten at a good restaurant? Of course their answer is yes. I then ask them if they ever told their friends and family about it, again their answer is yes. I then ask them if the movie theater or restaurant ever paid them for that referral? Of course their reply is no. Our company pays you for referrals. We are like a distribution center without having to pay for overhead, stock products or have the traditional expense of owning a business, yet we are able to be the “middle man” between the company and the consumer by means of the referral process. The bigger income comes in when you bring in other “business partners” who want to do the same thing and you make a commission off everything they do.
I also tell them that they don’t have to know a ton of people. If they find a few, then the best thing is to work with them, tap into their contacts and now you are adding people to your organization by helping them build theirs.
Everyone needs some kind of hope for the future in terms of income. With so many losing their job and houses, I am finding that even those that have previously be strong in their arguments against network marketing are becoming open to the idea because of the low risk / high potential factor.
