"Talent is Never Enough" by John Maxwell
This book was an interesting surprise filled with well presented insight, thought provoking views on life and success, and an outstanding use of appropriate quotes. I found myself keenly interested in the primary points presented; however, John tends to get a "tad" too detailed in his real life examples leading to a schlogdown in the reading experience.
This book is 275 pages long consisting of 13 chapters. I realize his goal is to be as comprehensive on the subject as possible, yet this led to a feeling of being beat to death while making the primary point. I also noticed the book was laid out almost like an outline vs. a readable experience of discovery.
Having said this, I never realized the discussion of Talent as it relates to success in life encompassed so many elements directly affecting our success. I recommend this book to anyone on a personal development journey open to new perspectives of how talent should be considered in all aspects of life. I feel it is time well invested and I will read the other books authored by John Maxwell.
We all know it's not all about talent but many more elements to success in life and business. This book dissects these elements and how they all relate to talent. John's presentation obliterates many of our preconceived ideas about the importance of talent alone leading to success.
I hope you find this review valuable.

Talent I believe is just having people skills, and empathy for people...the other things are all teachable....what questions to ask etc.....the main skill set is people skills and most have that

I haven't read the book but I've learned some skills in my time
that have people saying "you are so talented" and I say, "no,
I just put in the time and worked hard to understand how this
skill works"... but the result is very similar - a skilled practitioner
appears to be naturally gifted to the person who does not know
the story behind the skill.

Real quick I believe a few people have talent and skills confused...
Talent= Born Gift
Skill=Learned Gift
Now it's truly wonderful to be in the Marketplace today with you all...
Are industry is so incredible, especially with the rise of online marketing...
You Now don't need many talents...
Desire...(irreplaceable)
Alot other things you need...
Such as organization,people skills, and so much more can be learned...
Jordan Does a commercial where he points out...
No one saw the amount of hours he put in the Gym...
Meaning he was truly blessed with gifts...
But he learned and strengthen some skills on the way...
"See you Guys @ the Top!"
Nevere Has Working From Home Been Easier!...

Talent, as Mason said, is something you are born with.
But, in business, it's the SKILL, what you need. A talented person without polished skills is of no use. If you are talented, you also need at least one basic skill, that is DISCIPLINE.
Skill is something you can learn and upgrade. It's in your hand.

I'm not sure I can totally agree.
Most people have some people skills - but do most people have enough of the right people skills, plus the confidence or right mindset needed to make the most of them?
We both agree that most people have skills, implying that some people do not... so it's not logical to state that MLM is for everyone.
Perhaps we can help people come to an informed decision about whether they have now, or can have soon, the skills and capabilities needed to be even modestly successful in MLM?
Cheers
Martin

I think that a normal person needs talent to be successful. They either possess it already or use personal development to acquire it.
If your service or product helps small businesses, E-mail me at Justice44@rocketmail.com and explain how it can help. I may know someone who may need it.
