ezine solos
banners
newspaper ads (very underrated)
postcards (grossly overrated)
blog endorsements
bulk emailers
cpa
buying high traffic revenue producing web sites
etc.

To truly have it on autopilot you need PPC marketing. All the top earners in my company spend anywhere from 5k - 15k a month with Adwords. That should say something.....

Absolutely you can. There are many who have built businesses without any marketing budget, i.e. offline marketing, but you certainly need to have a particular skill set for that.

There are TONS of ways to do online marketing without PPC:

Ezine Ads,
SEO (the ultimate 'free' leads mechanism)
Email Drops
Setting Up CPA marketing for you biz
Product Creation
Social Media
Article Marketing (subset of SEO)
Video Marketing (subset of SEO)

PPC is just ONE strategy among the many available to you as a marketer. I agree, this business...a majority of business for that matter are built on relationships. Although PPC is one of the more powerful marketing strategies available, not using it does not necessarily mean you won't survive. Utilize everything available to you and you will be successful.
