Oh So Tired Of One Time Offers!

Postby Ali Jones on Thu Jun 11, 2009 7:05 am

Dear Fellow Betternetworkers,

When you have been online for a while it does not take long to see these "one time offers" that marketers always do to make you buy whilst you are in buying mode. I know that this is supposd to be one of the best ways to get someone to buy again. Just like McDonalds when they supersize your meal (did you realize that).

Anyway I have bought plenty of products off the internet, however I am just getting so sick and tired now.

When I decide to make a purchase it is because I feel the person is offering something of real value only to see that sometimes inside Im not buying the best version. Then the "one time only" (you will never ever ever ever see this product again) offer rears it's ugly head.

Yup I have fallen for this in the past, but now Im just plain old sick and tired of this tactic.

I would like to know what thoughts and opinions my fellow collegues have to say on this issue.

Ali,

I am going to let you in on a little secret...

The reason marketers do this is because it WORKS!

What WORKS, WORKS! Plain and simple. Don't get mad, just figure out how you can leverage the same stuff.

I hear you Ali. However, it is an effective form of direct response marketing. I prefer the trial offer strategy.

Personally...

..most folks need to go deeper to get to the bottom of our mental anguish..

Here's what I'm saying...

Now, there is nothing wrong with OTO it is just business and we decide to take
the next step..So, just accept it and go on with your life unless you are going to
go as far as it takes to whatever...

The next step perhaps wasn't to be that one but whatever reason like in other faces
of life we took it..and this is what this response is about..

Have you seen the show "Next" with Nicholas Cage ant Jennifer Biel?..well, believe it
or not that is exactly how our mind works..the NEXT STEP..

The next step is what directs our life's body and it is mainly for our practical life to
survive but as we can see that a lot of people have taken the wrong step and ended
up in some kind of hell and that's because we don't take the next step that life show
us to take..

In our practical life we write and cash a check mentally before we actually do it..
We get a glass of water before we actually get up and do it..What can happen
if we get interupted or distracted while doing or thinking of doing?..we make a mistake,
we stay thirsty etc...just think if we get distracted with something more important or
dangerious..

That is pretty much what happens trying to earn money with some kind of business..meaning, we don't take the step that life is giving us because we got interputed or distracted..stream of thoughts..

Let us try to designed a business pattern by taking exactly the right step that we need to take
at that moment..not easy but it's gotta be done..some of us do it without knowing..let me
say it another way..most successful people succeed without realizing how they did it and
some try to sell you a way to succeed without the real knowledge how they did it..

Now matter how we get started if we pay attention to the next step and the next..sooner
or later we get there but we must be sure that the next step is the sponteneuous one..

That's all the time I have so wish you well..

Dear John,

I know it works I am not denying that at all. However maybe their is a shift coming, maybe marketers may need to change this tactic sometime in the near future, or maybe Im just on the internet too much! LOL

What you need to realize is that good marketers are cut throat hunters period

Also remember what marketing essentially is - getting the money out of your pockets one way or another (also period :D )

OTO, if they are good products and they are being offered at a discount whats wrong with it... You can always say no. The problem is you want to buy them because you see the value at the time and it is hard to say no. LOL The market will shift when the OTO stop getting results.

Ali I think you're right....... You're Online Perusing Sales Letters Way Too much!

Serioulsy though, OTOs work, just as others have pointed out.
It's just a sales thing, and just as others have pointed out as well, you DON'T HAVE TO buy.
The method itself is very effective in increasing dollars per sale for the merchant.
But keep this in mind, you will see on numerous occasions, where the OTO really is a killer deal.
And yes, just as others have mentioned, more than likely you'll see that offer again.

Either way, if the product holds real value for you and YOU WANT it, then go for it.
If not, then don't.

If you ever get into creating your own products and selling online you'll surely see this in a different light, I guarantee.

Cheers..... and happy shopping!
