Google Officially Hates MLM (At least on adwords)

Postby Andrew James on Wed Aug 26, 2009 6:02 pm

I'm not a controversy, bash people kind of guy.
But, after three banned accounts, $$$ down the drain with google and
a long call with an account rep, I actually heard it.

"If you're promoting anything MLM related, we really don't like that and it will probably get banned and maybe even blacklisted. And if there is not option for a user on a page to do something besides give their name and email, that's not a unique user experience so that will probably get banned too."

The long and short of it (after lots of frustration and reading and conversation inside this and other forums) is that we are all going to have to be a lot more creative, unique and focus on delivering real value. The difficult thing is always going to be finding out what makes you 100% unique. It's trickier now.

It's the same thing Jim Yaghi has taught in his PPC articles, in PPC domination and so forth.
You can't think and act and do exactly like everyone else and expect great results.
That just doesn't work.

SO, anyway, I have been google slapped pretty hard. And just curious if anyone else is getting similar feedback and or results.

(sorry this isn't the most well written post, it was born of stress and frustration with google, they've been horrible to work with. So the key is to be creative, build more relationships and remember there is always a way, there is always possibility. You can make it and you will, you may just have to expand your thinking again and again and again. I think one of the biggest things I have learned since I've been in MLM, internet marketing, and entreprenuership is the fact that you need mentors, coaches, cheerleaders and friends and all of it. But ultimately, you must still figure it out for you, you can have all the support in the world but you still have to run your race, go on your journey, your adventure. That's a good thing because we are all unique and all have our own journey to go on.)

I would really like to take this discussion further, let's please talk about it more.

Hey thanks for the responses and support.
I'm glad there's many people who eco my own thoughts.
Set backs only make you smarter.
There are so very many ways to generate traffic. This just makes all the bigger case for learning those, and applying them. I've been getting great results on Yahoo Search, as well a Social PPC.

No question I'll let something like that set me back. There's is an important lesson to learn though about finding your own uniqueness and quality. That was the overwhelming reply from google, " to many templated, duplicated pages and sites out there." Many coming form our industry.
