I’m sure by now you’ve been told to have goals for your business. I’m sure you’ve also been told to have them written down and placed where it is visible everyday. (If you haven’t done that, then you really need to) There’s a reason you hear so much about goals when you’re a business owner. If you don’t have a specific goal in mind, then you tend to move off topic and get distracted.
You need a clear and specific vision, and the specific steps that will get you there. Otherwise, there are just too many things that will get in your way.
When you work online, you find many things that catch your interest and can make 2 hours disappear instantly. There are a lot of opportunities out there, and many of them are really good. However if you dabble in a little bit of everything, you can’t have a very strong focus on any of them.
Find your strengths, listen to your inner voice, and make a commitment to yourself and follow through with your vision. Steer your focus in that direction. Do not allow yourself to get caught up in all the hype you can find online.
In the words of Jack Welch, “Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion.”
If you can’t articulate your vision, take some time today to figure this out. Do not waste another day working towards a path that doesn’t lead towards your goal.

Re: Are you focused on your vision?
Great Post Brenda! I like the part about dabbling in too many things. That could mean joining too many different opportunities and not focusing enough energy on one opportunity. I've seen a lot of people getting sucked into the next big thing. The hype catches them, and before they know it they've joined their next opportunity, and wasted all the work and dedication they've just spent on their previous opportunity.
My opportunity may not be the best, may not have the best compensation plan or products, but when I joined it 9 month ago, I decided that I would focus on it. I've had a few times where I almost got sucked into the hype of the next big energy drink or automated system, but I quickly ran away. If you stick to your goals long enough and hard enough, you will achieve them. PERIOD.
Another thing I've come to realize about spreading yourself too thin is that people often try to market with 10 or more marketing strategies right out of the gate. That should NEVER be done. I once heard a very wise man tell me that he's been marketing online for 6 or more years, and in all that time he's only used 3 different marketing strategies. He's making multi-millions of dollars every year, and he only uses 3 marketing strategies. You don't have to use a ton of different strategies if the ones that you are using are mastered. You should be able to generate all of the leads you need from 2-3 marketing strategies. You just have to figure out how to best implement those strategies.
I know I rambled a little bit maybe off of your topic Brenda, but I really like the point about people dabbling in too many things and not getting anything major accomplished.

Re: Are you focused on your vision?
Thank you for your post. I am completly agree with you Brenda and also with the first comment. There is several terms to design the same think : focus, goal, vision, outcome.
You need to have a strong vision (or focus, goal, outcome) and place it as a MUST in your life.
You need to pause, to think, to clarify what is your objectives, your dreams and how you will reach them.
What are the way you absolutely to take to go through your vision? And everyday you have to check if what you are doing keep you focused on your vision.
But in that way, do not work alone, do not ignore others, share your vision, help people developing their own, be part of the community. You will become a successful leader and will empowered life around you

Re: Are you focused on your vision?
I wrote this post on my blog mainly for myself. I noticed I was getting off target doing "other" things. I was learning something new, and that's important, but it was taking a lot of my time. I think you could learn the rest of your life, but that's not really going to help you if you don't take action.
So I took a step back and realized what I was doing, and by putting it in writing, made myself accountable. After writing it, I re-read it, and thought it would actually be a good point to post here, as I'm sure I wasn't the only one doing it!

Re: Are you focused on your vision?
Thanks for the post.
I agree that you must create a vision for yourself. Don't get hung up on the 'how to's'. The 'how to' will be revealed to you as you create a plan on paper and start acting on those plans. They can be modified along the way. Remember, mistakes/failure's are your friend. They help us grow. That's how we all learn.
Remember the Wright Brothers had a vision that someday humans could fly in an machine. They saw it before anyone else in their own mind. But they also new in order for that vision/image to materialize, they needed to take action. You must act an you must act consistently.

Re: Are you focused on your vision?
Oh how right you are Brenda, sad to say I used to be one of those dabblers... Guilty as charged, but once you set your focus and energy on the right opportunity, and you actually have a clear vision everything seems to become so much more easier. Even though network/internet marketing is never easy, its like 500lbs off your chest when you find your niche and become focused on it. Bill Gates and Michale Dell had vision too, and look where they are now...man I wish I had known those guys then...lol

Re: Are you focused on your vision?
Great Post Brenda!
It is ridiculous how all of the hype out there can distract Network Marketers especially the Newbies!
Its pretty ironic that you wrote this because today I actually wrote an article about Newbies and how they got shoved down the wrong path by all the hype....even when there are people genuinely trying to give them some valuable information to lead them to their success.
Like you said it IS important to set goals and I believe that there is something else as equally important - if not more.
You have to figure out a way to achieve your goals! Now for people just coming into the Network Marketing industry (Newbies) this is hard for them because of all the hype.
They are getting promised false hopes by people that just want the fast buck. And it is sad because the only thing people that want a fast buck has ever mastered in this industry is how to play with peoples emotions to get their money.
This is NOT the way to BUILD a business!!!!!
I HATE that because those people give the Network Marketing industry a bad name. Those ignorant people shout louder than the people that really want to help (because there is more of them).
On the other hand, I do believe that if a Newbie (or anyone) fails for this reason (or any other reason) it is their own fault.
It is their fault because they did not educate themselves well enough and that is what Network Marketing is all about - being educated and having something to offer someone else - which is......you guessed it, knowledge.
So just like you said Brenda, if any one of you has any questions about your business take some time to figure out if you are heading down the right path.
The path less traveled - the successful path.

Re: Are you focused on your vision?
Vision for me comes from deep within. It's not something I conjure up in my thinking. We all live out of our heart anyway and if fail to follow our heart we will miss the vision.
To find your vision you need to look inside and see what has been written on your heart... and go do it. That is where you are meant to be.

Wasted wish James.
What you should have wished was to know who around you is the next Gates, Dell
I think that both of those would be wasted wishes...
You need to have a "winners" misnset and wish that YOU would be the next Gates, Dell and then act on it and make it happen!
