Which web hosting company do you prefer?

Postby Karen Jacobson on Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:46 am

Hello,

I'm looking for a web hosting company for my Wordpress blog. I'm not a "techie" and have noticed that there are so many to choose from. The ones I've looked at so far are Blue Host and Go Daddy. Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Karen Jacobson :)

Godaddy is common and cheap, and for Wordpress blog it should do just fine. Plus, they have a one click install of Wordpress available (it's free), although many other hosting companies offer this service too. Unless you running some major e-commerce and need lot of databases, have tons of visitors querying your site and databases all at the same time, do not need to mess with special stuff, such as DNS, cron jobs etc, I say pretty much any hosting will do. Godaddy will do just fine for your needs.

.

HostGator for sure.
I've been with many hosts over the last 10+ years and they have been the best hands down.

Here's a coupon to get your first month for $0.01
Host Gator Coupon Code: 1cent

I recommend the Baby hosting package at $9.95 per month.
Unlimited domains
Unlimited bandwidth
Unlimited hosting space
+ many more extras

this is my affiliate link: http://www.HostGatorUltra.com

* I'm an affiliate but I also use their service for my own sites.

 One note on Godaddy hosting - I wouldn't recommend it.
Myself as well as numerous web design clients have had terrible experience with slow load times and application incompatibilities. I love em for domain registration, but that's about it.

I agree with Richard. Host Gator is really fantastic. I use them for all our blogs and all the ones we do for our members. Never had an issue and the customer service has always been top notch. Important even if you are a techie!

Whatever you go with, make sure they offer Cpanel with fantastico. That is the easiest way to install wordpress from my experience.

Let me know when you get your site up so I can check it out!
Cheers!
Erica

I used to use Godaddy and experienced no problems at all. Most of my clients use godaddy too, although I think it is mostly for the low hosting price. I personally use Dreamhost, but that's for all my sites, including e-commerce ones. But for a blog, their extra features (and thus higher price) is just not needed. Godaddy used to be a user interface mess, but with their latest update, they seem to be moving the right direction. But then again, if HostGator (I never used them) offers a better features vs price ratio than godaddy (or any other hosting), then of course, that would be the one to choose.

Just earlier this week I started using Host Gator for a couple of new sites and so far I'm pleased.
Have a GREAT day,

I personally use Godaddy hosting and I like it, but my husband likes hostgator.

I guess since he understands c-panel and I don't and since I was walked through the godaddy hosting account and he wasn't I understand why he wouldn't know where to begin.

A bit confusing, lol. But in short, if I were to start again I'd start with Hostgator.
