That's a cool question and one that I think a lot of struggling people in the MLM industry need answered because their MLM could be really amazing, yet they aren't building it to the level that they had hoped.

This is only my opinion and this is major reason why I've been doing really well and here it is: You have to adopt the psychology that you AREN'T your MLM, nor is the you have MLM your business.

YOU are your business. It's what you have to offer in terms of value, training, benefits, systems and any other element that you can throw into the mix that activate the laws of attraction and have people joining YOU tooth and nail over anyone else in your current company.

Adopting the 'You Inc.' business model instead of relying on your actual business opportunity has made a MASSIVE impact on my life and in my business times 100.

Branding yourself will absolutely transform how people will come to know about you and your MLM...period.

The best question you should ask is "Why should I join you?" (as a leader). You can argue the benefits of 1 company versus another till the cows come home, but there are no guarantees for success, based on the company you join.

Your success will depend on you and the leadership join & the advice you are given and follow.

The most important thing is to, "do the right things, in the right order".

As Jeffrey Combs says, "It's not what you do, but what you do daily". You need to have a habit that matches your goals.

Totally agree to a point. I believe what I bring to the table is about 80% of the equation.

The other 20% is my opp or opps.

You may find me totally magnetic and irresistable but then find what I'm promoting just may not be a fit.

That's why it's so important to have multiple products available and tools that can apply to anyone.

This is a great question. I totally agree with Vincent, "You Inc." is a critical component in MLM/Direct Sales success. No matter how weak or strong your opportunity is if you don't take action you have no business. There is a saying that goes "potential minus commitment equals nothing"!

I have spent years MLMing. I have had a chance to see a lot of things and for me, at this stage of the game, I needed to have certain elements in place before I got involved. I wanted the chance to make instant money the first day. That's real money not a $100 check. I also needed to have a system that had massive leverage built in. In my opinion the only real way to have that type of leverage was through a direct sales vs. MLM model. Additionally I needed a system that had a mechanism in place that spun off true on going residual income that was independent of the marketing side of the business. We all love to talk about residual income but the MLM business model cannot sustain true residuals. Very, very few people even the top leaders in the industry create on going residuals from one deal and they are still working the business to some extent. It's not good or bad it's just a fact of life of the MLM business structure. Lastly I wanted an opportunity that truly had a level playing field. I wanted to be able to make the really big money without having to be part of the "Presidential Founders" group. Luckily I have been blessed and have found that opportunity.

With all of that said I still had to get my "rusty dusty" off the couch and take action ad that has made all the difference for me!

Hi Sandi,

I think several issues need to be addressed before a prospect can be convinced. Some of the questions I would ask myself include the following:
1. Does the business opportunity (& the products/services) excite me at all ? - with so many similar offerings out there I often find myself responding "Oh no, not another health product!".
2. What is my initial investment to get started? Is the Compensation Plan workable? How fast will I break-even and how fast will I be able to generate a reasonable level of income?
3. How easy will it be for me to present and convince others that this business opportunity is truly worth their time, effort and investment?
4. Do I have to achieve a certain volume every month? Can I really maintain this?
And last but not least, as several others have pointed out, it all boils down to oneself - how serious and how committed am I about this new business proposition? Having a positive attitude is everything!

This are my conclusions before joining any MlM opportunity:

Thank you everyone for your great response. This response from John should be addressed as one of the key ingredient before anyone decide to Join a TEAM or a Leader and not a MLM company or their products.
It means that to have a success in MLM it should become our “life style” and not just a one time thing.
It is a must to study and be mentored by professional marketers. Market your “KNOWLEDGE” and not your opportunity.It does take WORK, DILIGENCE, and DEDICATION to master the art of marketing to be successful in MLM.

I agree with Tony. Although branding yourself as the leader is something featured here on BN.com and what Mike D teaches there is still the business of business. People are still looking to get involkved in an opportunity. I won't mention the name of my opp but what attracted me most was the simplicity of the product. A confused mind always says "no" so for me, an easy to understand and easy to use product was paramount. It relieves a huge amount of "selling" from the equation.

I've been involved with vitamins and juices and all sorts of stuff. If people start hammering you about what's in the vitamins and why are they better than what they can get at CVS for half money and no shipping charges it sets you up for a painful, uphill shlog.

I was also approached by somebody one time who wanted me to join their company which has a product line of over 500 items. What? 500 items?? How in the heck am I supposed to represent 500 items? Man, that's too much work for me.

I like to keep things simple - KISS as they say. Do yourself a HUGE favor and don't make the endeavor of building a successful MLM biz more challenging than it already is.
